Cheng Lei wore a retro-style suit in a linen-brown shade, giving him an elegant and gentlemanly appearance. Xu Ruohan opted for a white strapless dress with pleated details, while Guo Yuxin paired a black knitted sweater with a plaid skirt.
During an interactive segment, Xu Ruohan demonstrated her artistic skills by painting a portrait of Cheng Lei on the spot. After she finished, Cheng Lei signed the artwork. The painting was then awarded to a lucky audience member through an auction-style game during the event.
Cheng Lei and Xu Ruohan also switched roles to recreate the first meeting between their characters in the drama. Accompanied by music from a popular short drama, the playful performance added another entertaining moment to the promotional event.
Cheng Lei Jokes About His Viral Bath Scene
When asked about a scene in which Yu Changxuan, his character, dreams while in a bathtub, Cheng Lei responded jokingly, “Everyone dreams. It’s just that some people do it in a bathtub.”
His remark referred to a bathtub scene in The Lament of Autumn featuring Yu Changxuan and Ye Pingjun, played by Xu Ruohan. The sequence also includes a kiss in the bathroom, with misty surroundings and wet hair adding to the emotional tension between the two characters.
The scene has also reignited discussions about Cheng Lei’s fan-given nickname, the “Bath Emperor,” referring to the bathing and soaking scenes featured in his dramas. The Lament of Autumn marks the seventh drama in which he has appeared in such a scene, following My Journey to You (云之羽), Follow Your Heart (颜心记), Legend of the Female General (锦月如歌), Shadow Love (与晋长安), The First Jasmine (莫离), and How Dare You!? (成何体统). Some viewers responded with jokes on social media, teasing that Cheng Lei might need to bring his own bath products to every new drama set.
The promotional event concluded on a lighthearted note, with Xu Ruohan’s live painting and Cheng Lei’s witty response becoming memorable moments for fans.
