The trending discussion began after Tian Xuning’s studio announced it had decided to pursue legal action against Jiuchengmei for alleged defamation. The move came after the Douyin influencer made several controversial claims about the actor’s private life during a livestream.
The controversy began on the night of March 13, when Jiuchengmei hosted a livestream on Douyin and claimed that she had been in a romantic relationship with Tian Xuning for two years. According to her, the relationship ended in early 2024.
During the livestream, Jiuchengmei even displayed a video that she claimed showed the two sharing a kiss. While crying on camera, she spoke about her feelings and accused the actor of being dishonest during their relationship.
“Only now did I realize that during the two years he was with me, he was also dating many other people,” she said during the broadcast.
Jiuchengmei also made another statement that quickly fueled debate among netizens. She claimed that Tian Xuning has a child. According to her, the child was born in August, while she and the actor had only broken up in January of that same year.
“I know he has a child. During the two years he was with me, he also had a child with someone else. The baby was born in August, and I hadn’t even broken up with him yet in January,” she said.
However, the rumor about Tian Xuning having a child had already been denied by his agency in the past. In June 2025, the actor’s management released an official statement confirming that Tian Xuning is single, has never been married, and does not have any children.
In the statement, the agency described the circulating rumors as a distortion of facts and accusations that had been deliberately fabricated. They also asked those involved to remove any content that violated the actor’s rights or damaged his reputation. At the time, the agency also said it had appointed lawyers to collect evidence regarding the spread of the rumors.
The situation developed further on March 14, when Tian Xuning’s studio issued another official response to the claims made by Jiuchengmei during her livestream.
In the statement, the studio said that Jiuchengmei’s remarks contained false information and could constitute defamation against Tian Xuning. The studio also confirmed that it had appointed a legal team to gather and secure evidence related to the alleged violations.
According to the statement, the studio is prepared to pursue legal action and file a lawsuit in court.
“The false statements and defamatory remarks about Mr. Tian Xuning made by ‘Jiuchengmei’ during the livestream on March 14, 2026 are suspected of infringing upon his reputation rights. Our studio has appointed a legal team to preserve evidence and is preparing to file a lawsuit with the people’s court in accordance with the law,” the statement read.
However, just a few hours after the statement was released, Jiuchengmei responded again by posting several short videos on Douyin. In those clips, she appeared defiant and directly addressed Tian Xuning and his team.
“Are you going to sue me? I’m ready to go all the way!” she said on camera.
Her response quickly intensified the conflict between the two sides. What initially began as a controversy surrounding claims about a past relationship has now evolved into an open legal confrontation between a well-known actor and a Douyin influencer.
In her response videos, Jiuchengmei also insisted that she had not fabricated any of her claims. She said that everything she revealed was backed by evidence and challenged Tian Xuning’s studio to present all of their proof in court.
Despite her assertions, some netizens have begun questioning the materials she presented. Several online users suggested that the video she shared as proof of their relationship may show signs of digital manipulation, including possible AI-generated elements, citing inconsistencies in facial proportions and lighting.
Meanwhile, Tian Xuning’s studio has chosen not to engage further in the online argument after announcing its legal action. The team has indicated that it will focus on the legal process instead.
The dispute has quickly become one of the most talked-about controversies in China’s entertainment industry this year. Beyond the personal conflict between a celebrity and a Douyin influencer, the case has also sparked broader discussions about the limits of online speech and the protection of reputation in the era of social media.
