Fan Changyu is an orphan living with her five-year-old sister, surviving by working as a pig butcher. Xie Zheng, who is being hunted due to political intrigue, is rescued by her. To repay the favor, Xie Zheng joins the Fan family by pretending to marry Fan Changyu. However, in the process, he falls in love with her and later learns of Fan Changyu’s secret identity: she is not just a daughter of a pig butcher.
Later, Xie Zheng is captured by the soldiers of Wei Xuan—his cousin and the son of Wei Yan—and is forced into mandatory military service. At that time, Xie Zheng does not reveal his true identity and still chooses to disguise himself as Yan Zheng.
Fan Changyu, upon learning this, decides to follow Xie Zheng to the battlefield. When the two meet, Xie Zheng is injured and still using his alias, Yan Zheng. With extraordinary courage, Fan Changyu takes over the position of the wounded Xie Zheng. Accidentally, during the war, she slays the enemy commander using her butcher’s knife, achieving a great feat and building a reputation as a tough warrior. Together, they continue to fight on the battlefield to build their careers while tracing the mystery of their parents’ deaths that occurred 17 years ago in Jinzhou.
The investigation reveals that Wei Yan was the primary party responsible for the deaths of the Xie and Fan Changyu families. Seventeen years ago, when the Jinzhou front line was in critical condition, the Crown Prince led the troops himself alongside Xie Zheng’s father. Both fell tragically during the defense.
