LayarHijau – Chinese actor Yang Yang has once again drawn public attention after news of an injury he sustained at the start of his latest drama project sparked widespread discussion. Photos circulating online showing his left hand wrapped in a bandage quickly raised concern among fans.
Yang Yang rose to fame through hit dramas such as Love O2O and You Are My Glory. He faced criticism following his role in Fireworks of My Heart in 2023. However, he regained significant attention with the fantasy martial arts project The Immortal Ascension (凡人修仙傳).
Recently, he officially began filming his new historical costume drama, Bu Rang Jiang Shan (不让江山). However, shortly after the project was announced, various rumors began circulating online.
During the opening ceremony, Yang Yang appeared with a bandage on his left hand. He explained that he had suffered a fracture while practicing action scenes before joining the production. Despite the injury, he attended the event and assured everyone that he was recovering. This is not the first time he has been injured for a role; he previously sustained a leg injury while filming action scenes for The Immortal Ascension.
The situation escalated when, just one day after filming began, photos and videos surfaced showing Yang Yang leaving the set carrying all of his personal belongings. The incident immediately fueled speculation that he had withdrawn from the project.

Amid the speculation, several accusations spread across social media. One major claim alleged significant script changes. Reports suggested that the script initially reviewed and approved differed from the version used at the start of filming. Some key lines originally belonging to the male lead were allegedly reassigned to supporting characters. There were also claims of added scenes considered irrelevant to the main storyline. Online users referred to the alleged situation as a “dual script” or “yin-yang script.”
Another widely discussed issue involved alleged unequal production treatment. Leaked costume photos showed Yang Yang’s styling as the male lead appearing relatively simple, while supporting male characters reportedly had more elaborate and varied costumes. The comparison sparked debate among fans.

The controversy deepened when the production team was reported to have cast an internet celebrity named Houben, who lacks experience in long-form dramas. Houben had previously posted a video parody that was perceived as mocking one of Yang Yang’s scenes in Fireworks of My Heart, which angered some fans. Although reports later claimed Houben was removed from the project, the issue had already intensified online discussions.
In response to the growing rumors, the Bu Rang Jiang Shan production team released an official statement on February 23, 2026.
In the statement, the team said they had taken note of the extensive online discussions following the project’s announcement and expressed gratitude for the public’s attention and supervision. They apologized for the confusion and concern caused by the circulation of non-final materials and stated that internal reviews and corrective measures had been carried out.
The production emphasized that since the preparation stage, they have adhered to the spirit of the original work and have consistently placed the male lead character, Li Chi—portrayed by Yang Yang—at the core of the creative vision. They described Li Chi as a vivid and multi-dimensional character: intelligent, sharp, passionate, and courageous, and affirmed that he remains the central focus of the entire team’s efforts.
Addressing the “dual script” allegations and claims of unauthorized scene additions, the production firmly denied the accusations. They stated that all actors are using the same script. The script circulating online is not the final shooting draft, and the leaked costume designs do not represent the finalized styling. All scripts and costume designs, they stressed, were carefully developed to align with character settings and narrative needs.
Regarding Yang Yang’s condition, the team stated that the actor’s health is their top priority. After learning that Yang Yang had injured his hand prior to joining the set, they immediately maintained close communication with his team, continuously monitored his recovery, and adjusted schedules and arrangements accordingly. They also denied additional injury-related rumors circulating online.
In closing, the production team urged the public not to spread confidential materials or unverified information, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a healthy creative environment. They pledged to uphold higher production standards and expressed hope that Bu Rang Jiang Shan will eventually meet audiences in its best possible form.
As of now, Yang Yang has not issued a personal statement regarding the withdrawal rumors. However, with the production’s official clarification, it is hoped that the speculation surrounding the project will gradually subside as audiences await further updates.
