Beyond Bai Lu and Wang Xingyue, Unveil: Jadewind also features eight renowned supporting actors, including Zhao Qing (The Immortal Ascension), Dai Luwa (Lost You Forever), Ding Xiaoying (The Journey of Legend), Li Xinze (The Double), Zhao Yiqin (Glory), Zhang Weina (Blood River), Yao Anna (Meet Yourself), and Yin Zhusheng (The Longest Day in Changan).
Three Key Highlights of Unveil: Jadewind
1. Explosive Chemistry Between Bai Lu and Wang Xingyue
Unveil: Jadewind is adapted from the novel of the same name (唐宮奇案之血玉韘) by Shenlinlu. The story begins when Princess Ningyuan dies mysteriously during a banquet. Li Peiyi and Xiao Huaijin are ordered to investigate, dragging them into a confrontation with a hidden murderer while uncovering the deep, dark history of the palace.
Bai Lu and Wang Xingyue are agency colleagues. They previously acted together in the drama Story of Kunning Palace (寧安如夢). However, their romantic relationship in that drama did not materialize—a huge disappointment for fans who shipped them. In Story of Kunning Palace, Bai Lu (Jiang Xuewei) ultimately paired with Zhang Linghe.
Their reunion in Unveil: Jadewind, where they not only solve cases but also develop a romance, is highly anticipated. Stills showing Bai Lu lifting Wang Xingyue’s chin, alongside moments of them collaborating on investigations, have already showcased their powerful on-screen chemistry (CP).
2. Investigation Meets a Vengeance Plot
Unveil: Jadewind combines several intricate unit cases, such as “Seven Star Mistake,” “Flower on the Wall,” “The Secret of the Auspicious Hour,” and “Bloody Talent.” These cases are not only complex and reveal the dark side of humanity but also incorporate captivating Chinese horror aesthetics, generating widespread online discussion.
Furthermore, hidden beneath these cases is the revenge mission of Li Peiyi (Bai Lu) for the massacre of her family. In the trailer, Li Peiyi shares her tragic story: “Fifteen years ago, my family was annihilated. They killed so many people. I will look for them one by one; I will surely find them.” This quest for revenge serves as her main motivation for investigating the truth behind every case, giving the drama a rich and layered narrative.
3. Support from Top-Tier Supporting Cast
In addition to the excellent chemistry between the leads, Unveil: Jadewind also draws attention due to its exceptional lineup of supporting actors. The presence of stars from popular dramas like Zhao Qing (The Immortal Ascension), Dai Luwa (Lost You Forever), and Yin Zhusheng (The Longest Day in Changan) further solidifies the quality and potential global success of this drama.
