LayarHijau – Lu Yuxiao is once again in the spotlight after her popularity surged through Love in the Clouds and Love Between Lines. The young actress is currently filming her latest historical drama, Dancing with the Tide, where she stars opposite Tan Jianci. Her noticeably slimmer appearance has quickly caught public attention.
It later emerged that the physical change was intentional. In Dancing with the Tide, Lu Yuxiao plays Nan Yi, a young woman forced to survive as a thief and beggar. To fully embody the role, Lu Yuxiao deliberately lost around 5 kilograms. While she weighed about 45 kilograms during Love Between Lines, she is now said to be down to just 40 kilograms at a height of 165 cm.

Her increasingly slender figure has sparked mixed reactions online. Some viewers have expressed concern for her health, while many others praised her professionalism and commitment as an actress. The transformation is widely seen as enhancing the realism of Nan Yi’s character and reinforcing the harshness of the life she leads in the story.
Lu Yuxiao first rose to widespread recognition through her supporting role in My Journey to You, which quickly propelled her career forward. Since then, she has continued to secure back-to-back projects, including Romance in the Alley, Serendipity, When I Meet the Moon, and Love in the Clouds. Even amid a slowdown in the entertainment industry, Lu Yuxiao remains one of the busiest young actresses of her generation.
Her appearance and posture had previously been the subject of public discussion, with occasional criticism directed at the way she carried herself. However, through consistent training and adjustments, noticeable improvements have followed. In Dancing with the Tide, Lu Yuxiao once again portrays a character with a background in martial arts, but this time layered with a far harsher life experience, demanding a deeper level of physical and emotional immersion.
Dancing with the Tide is adapted from the popular novel by Xian Yu Ke. Set against the chaos of the Southern Song Dynasty, the drama follows Xie Que Shan (Tan Jianci), a general branded as a traitor to the nation, who is in fact an undercover agent. Nan Yi (Lu Yuxiao) becomes entangled in his dangerous world after stealing from him, setting off a chain of life-or-death choices. Their relationship gradually evolves from one built on tension and control into a bond forged through survival.
With yet another full-bodied transformation for her role, Lu Yuxiao continues to solidify her reputation as one of the most promising young actresses today. It comes as no surprise that Dancing with the Tide, her collaboration with Tan Jianci, has already generated strong anticipation even before its release.
