LayarHijau– The upcoming Chinese drama My Page in the 90s, starring Chen Xingxu and Wang Yuwen, is set to premiere on January 22, 2026, on WeTV and Tencent Video. The series will run for 28 episodes and blends modern romance with a fantasy twist, centering on a story about entering the world of a novel—packaged as a light, nostalgic romantic comedy.
The drama follows Lin Huan’er (Wang Yuwen), a popular relationship advice host from the year 2025. After a freak accident, she suddenly finds herself trapped inside a romance novel set in 1998, where she meets Gao Haiming (Chen Xingxu), a cold, rational heir to a powerful business empire. To return to the real world, Lin Huan’er is given one clear mission: make Gao Haiming fall in love with her.

My Page in the 90s is adapted from the novel Goodbye, Weasel. During early production, the project was known under the working title A Sudden Love, before officially being released under its current title.
Here are five key things to know about the drama ahead of its premiere:
A Female Lead Who Fails More Than She Succeeds
Unlike many “enter-the-novel” dramas, My Page in the 90s does not portray its heroine as an all-knowing protagonist. Despite coming from 2025 and working professionally as a relationship counselor, Lin Huan’er’s modern strategies repeatedly fail in the context of a 1998 romance novel.
Her attempts to win over Gao Haiming often backfire, leading to awkward misunderstandings and unexpected consequences. These repeated missteps create much of the show’s humor and give the story a refreshing edge, steering it away from overly convenient or predictable romantic tropes.
Gao Haiming Is Not an Easy Male Lead
Gao Haiming is written as a man who appears calm, distant, and emotionally reserved. He is not easily swayed by Lin Huan’er’s advances and often seems one step ahead, quietly observing rather than reacting.
Beneath his composed exterior lies a sharp and calculating mind, making him one of the most difficult male leads to approach in the story. This dynamic turns the romance into a slow-burning battle of wits rather than a straightforward pursuit, allowing Chen Xingxu to showcase a layered performance that balances restraint, subtle humor, and emotional depth.
Real-Life Friendship Strengthens On-Screen Chemistry
The strong chemistry between Chen Xingxu and Wang Yuwen is rooted in their real-life connection. The two actors have known each other for years and previously studied at Beijing Dance Academy Affiliated High School, a prestigious arts school in Beijing.
Their long-standing friendship translates naturally on screen, making their interactions feel relaxed and genuine. From sharp verbal exchanges to quieter emotional moments, the ease between them enhances the credibility of their characters’ evolving relationship.
During promotional activities for My Page in the 90s, Chen Xingxu and Wang Yuwen attended the Tencent Star Awards, where their off-screen interactions drew widespread attention online.
One particular moment went viral when Wang Yuwen was seen chatting warmly with actress Zhou Ye, while Chen Xingxu watched with a notably gentle and affectionate expression. The brief exchange quickly became a talking point among netizens, with many commenting on the natural chemistry and relaxed dynamic between the cast members. The moment further fueled anticipation for the drama ahead of its broadcast.
Sweet Romance Without Overdoing It
One of the most talked-about moments from pre-release footage is a kiss scene set at an ice rink, where Lin Huan’er accidentally falls into Gao Haiming’s arms. The scene is playful rather than melodramatic, capturing a warm and spontaneous moment that highlights their growing closeness.
Rather than relying on excessive physical intimacy, the drama emphasizes emotional tension and gradual connection, allowing romantic moments to feel earned and natural.
A Fully Realized 1990s Setting
Set in the late 1990s, My Page in the 90s pays close attention to period detail. The production recreates the era through old-style amusement parks, typewriters, roadside shops, and retro advertising signs, immersing viewers in a distinctly nostalgic atmosphere.
Costumes and set design reinforce the contrast between Lin Huan’er’s modern mindset and the world she is stuck in, making the time period an essential part of the storytelling rather than just a backdrop.
