The moment took place in November 2025 at the wrap-up event for the drama When I Meet the Moon. In the circulating photos, fans can be seen squatting on the ground to show their support. Lu Yuxiao then voluntarily knelt down with both knees so that her eye level matched theirs, ensuring everyone could be clearly seen in the photo.
Throughout the interaction, Lu Yuxiao wore a warm smile and engaged with fans in a friendly manner, showing no sense of distance between herself as a celebrity and those supporting her. Her attitude quickly earned praise, with many netizens describing her as “down-to-earth,” “sincere,” and “free of any celebrity airs.”
Lu Yuxiao later addressed the viral photo in an interview, responding to a joke that had been widely shared online: “When I knelt down begging myself to stop chasing idols, I looked up and realized Lu Yuxiao was kneeling too.”
She explained that the gesture was not meant for show, but rather part of a “personal ritual” she cherishes with her fans. For Lu Yuxiao, moments shared with fans at the beginning and end of filming carry deep emotional meaning.
“I feel deeply moved every time I see their faces on the first day of filming or on the last day,” Lu Yuxiao said. “They come from so many different places, and there are some girls whose growth I feel I’ve been able to witness.”
She added that for fans, these occasions are not just about meeting her as an actress, but also about greeting and saying goodbye to the characters she portrays. “At the start and end of filming, they are saying hello and farewell to the character. It’s a kind of ritual, and it’s something that stays in your memory for a very long time,” she explained.
Her remarks further strengthened the positive impression she has left on the public. Many netizens believe her actions were not performative, but rather a reflection of genuine respect deeply rooted in her character. Others praised her for remaining humble despite her growing fame, and for treating fans like friends rather than distant supporters.
