In 2025, attention extended beyond television dramas, as variety shows emerged as a major driving force. Programs such as Chuang Asia Season 2, Love X Reality, The Truth Season 3, Heart Signal Season 8, and Wow The World recorded strong performances, underscoring audience enthusiasm for diverse entertainment formats.
Juan Xiang, Director of Tencent Video Business Department and Head of WeTV, emphasized the role of variety shows in nurturing new talent across Asia. “Over the past two years, we have produced two seasons of CHUANG ASIA. In the first season, we debuted the girl group GEN1ES, and in the second season, we debuted the boy group NexT1DE,” Juan Xiang said in a press release received by LayarHijau on Sunday, January 4, 2026.
He explained that the success of CHUANG ASIA demonstrates how variety shows extend beyond pure entertainment. “Following idol survival shows, we continue to promote the development of local variety shows in various markets, including creating opportunities in Indonesia,” he added.
Reflecting this spirit, Tencent Video All Star Night 2025 also served as a recognition platform for rising talents who stood out throughout the year. The New Faces in the TV Drama of the Year award was presented to An Tian, Chen Heyi, Lai Weiming, Rao Jiadi, Ren Youlun, Wu Tianqi, Wu Yuheng, and Zhong Yating, representing a new generation in television drama.
The Potential TV Drama Actor of the Year award went to Chen Yongsheng, Hanikezi, Kong Xueer, and Xu Mengjie for their promising performances. Meanwhile, as short-form dramas continue to gain popularity, the Short Drama Star of the Year category honored Chen Tianxiang, Deng Xiaoci, He Jianqi, Lin Zehui, Shen Haonan, Wang Gege, Wang Kaimu, and Zhao Xixi.
The Breakthrough TV Series Actor of the Year award was given to Chen Jingke, Michelle Chen, Huang Minghao, Ren Bin, Wan Peng, and Ying Er. In the Character of the Year category, Cao Jun, Gong Lei, Li Jiaqi, and Wen Zhengrong were recognized. For their consistent acting excellence, Zhang Binbin and Mao Xiaotong received the Annual Outstanding TV Drama Actors award, while Vengo Gao and Lu Yi were honored as Annual Quality Drama Actors.
