The drama features intense scenes: upon returning to the camp, Feng Suige pretends to be Fu Yixiao’s friend but then ties her up and punishes her with 47 lashes. Fu Yixiao demonstrates her resilience, even biting Feng Suige’s neck in retaliation, before they take turns “punishing” each other in the forest. This scene amazed viewers, with netizens joking that “romantic scenes in historical dramas have evolved into biting scenes.” Their chemistry quickly became a highlight.
The story also emphasizes the rapid transition from enemies to partners: Fu Yixiao calls Feng Suige “husband,” and she is later acknowledged as his consort in public while riding a horse together. This swift shift from adversaries to a married couple adds an engaging romantic twist for the audience, Upmedia reported.
Li Qin’s performance has been widely praised, particularly for her elegant bow-drawing posture during long-distance battle scenes. Viewers compared her to Song Yi’s character in Shadow Love, noting that Li Qin showcases more agility and courage. Chen Zheyuan also received acclaim for portraying a prince who is both strong and romantic.
Although Fated Hearts has earned positive reviews, some viewers noted that the themes of a female general and revenge are similar to previous dramas like Legend of the Female General and Shadow Love, leading to some fatigue with the premise. Nonetheless, if the series introduces surprising twists, it still has the potential to capture wider attention.
