The show has gained a reputation for its emotionally heavy plot, focusing on a painful love story that spans three lifetimes and three heartbreaking separations. However, as reported by World Journal, the mood behind the scenes tells a completely different story—one of laughter, mischief, and undeniable chemistry.
One of the most heartwarming moments came when the two posed together in full wedding attire. They looked so much like a real couple that fans couldn’t help but swoon. They also sang a romantic duet, The One and Only (唯一), which gave heartbroken viewers a much-needed emotional break from the intense drama.
Zeng revealed that many of the creative promotional ideas came from Bai Lu. “She’s like an engine,” he said admiringly. “She constantly gives great suggestions.” He even praised her as the “goddess of drama promotion,” showing not just admiration but a deep level of trust and teamwork.
Their off-screen interactions are filled with small but sweet gestures. When Bai Lu laughs too loudly, Zeng used to signal her with his hands to lower her volume—but now he simply covers her mouth with his hand, a move that fans find both hilarious and endearing.
Another fan-favorite story is Bai Lu’s summer obsession with milk tea. Zeng shared, “She’d order it every day and insist that I drink it. If I said I’d leave it in the car, she’d pout and say, ‘No, you have to drink it in front of me before the next scene!’” Her playful nagging added a romantic flair that fans couldn’t get enough of.
The emotional contrast between their on-screen tragedy and real-life cuteness is one reason this pairing has become a fan favorite. Many are secretly hoping that their sweetness doesn’t end when the cameras stop rolling.
Meanwhile, Feud (臨江仙) continues to pull audiences in with its tangled mystery and emotional depth. In recent episodes, the painful past of the couple is revealed: Bai Lu’s character watches her young son die after having her powers sealed by Zeng’s character. Branded a demon by villagers, she is nearly burned at the stake. As hatred takes root in her heart, the story hints at deeper secrets—Zeng’s memory loss and an unresolved conspiracy still looming in the background. With so much emotional weight and unanswered questions, the show keeps viewers hooked week after week.
