The fact that Hu Ge now sports white hair had already become a talking point last year when several netizens ran into him barefaced in public. His natural yet noticeably different look quickly sparked widespread discussion on social media.
Meanwhile, lead actress Yang Zi also shared her first on-set photo with a poetic caption. “The tree of life blooming in barrenness holds love and hope. Here, the answers are on the way, and there are miracles in life,” she wrote, as reported by Jimu News.
The Tree of Life is a realistic drama set in Qinghai. It tells the story of the Bai Gegen family, who live in Golmud and adopt a lost little girl named Bai Ju. As she grows up, Bai Ju goes on to establish the region’s first yak scientific research and experimental base.
She also launches a yak beef processing business and helps the villagers shift away from environmentally harmful work such as coal mining and poaching. Instead, they focus on ecological production, paving a path out of poverty and toward prosperity.
A yak is a type of long-haired cattle native to high-altitude regions, especially Tibet, the Himalayas, and China’s western provinces like Qinghai and Sichuan.
The drama promotes themes of green development, family love, and female empowerment—elements expected to resonate deeply with viewers.
