Rumors are now circulating that Tan Jianci may take on a lead role in the drama “The Poisoned Queen” next year. The leading female candidates rumored for this role are Zhao Lusi and Bao Shangen. Before Tan Jianci’s name surfaced, other actors such as Xiao Zhan, Cheng Yi, and Dylan Wang were also in the running.
“The Poisoned Queen” is a popular IP, and speculation surrounding the drama has caught the attention of netizens in China. Other names mentioned in the rumors include Wang Yibo, Deng Wei, Dilraba Dilmurat, Yang Zi, and Yang Chaoyue.
However, Dylan Wang is currently busy preparing for concerts and filming various projects, making it unlikely for him to accept this drama. Cheng Yi is rumored to be taking on “Twenty-Four Strategies of Chang’an,” which may also prevent him from accepting this offer.
The latest rumors suggest that the chosen male lead will be Tan Jianci, while the strongest contenders for the female lead are Zhao Lusi and Bao Shangen. Zhao Lusi boasts an impressive portfolio of popular dramas, including “Love Like the Galaxy,” “Hidden Love,” and “The Story of Pearl Girl.” In contrast, Bao Shangen has only debuted for two years, with her latest role as Huang Rong in “The Legend of Heroes: Hot Blooded.” Many netizens in China seem to favor Zhao Lusi for the role.
If these rumors are true, it would mark the first time Tan Jianci and Zhao Lusi are paired together, potentially offering something fresh and exciting.
“The Poisoned Queen” is adapted from the novel “The Rebirth of the Poison Queen” by the author Qian Shan Cha Ke. Notably, Qian Shan Cha Ke’s previous work, “Marriage of Di Daughter,” was adapted into the successful drama “The Double,” starring Wu Jinyan and Wang Xingyue, which achieved phenomenal popularity.
Another of Qian Shan Cha Ke’s novels, “The Reborn of Noble Girl is Hard to Find,” has also been adapted into the upcoming drama “The Glory,” featuring Chen Duling and Xin Yun Lai, which has not yet aired.
Additionally, the novel “Rebirth of a Star General” was adapted into the drama “Legend of the Female General,” starring Zhou Ye and Cheng Lei, which is also yet to be released.
Synopsis of “The Poisoned Queen”
The novel tells the story of Shen Miao, who suffers great misfortune in her previous life and harbors deep resentment. However, she is ultimately deposed and tragically dies in the cold palace, while her family also faces destruction.
