LayarHijau – Tan Songyun and Liu Xueyi have become a talking point among Chinese drama fans after an old social media comment resurfaced. Years ago, when Tan Songyun jokingly asked TV host He Jiong to help her find a partner, one netizen suggested Liu Xueyi as a suitable candidate for the actress. Now, the two stars are leading the historical drama Against the Current (兰香如故) together.

Their on-screen interactions and natural chemistry in the drama have caught viewers’ attention, with some fans dubbing them a golden CP, a popular Chinese fandom term for a beloved on-screen pairing. The show’s popularity has also brought the old story about a netizen’s matchmaking suggestion back into the spotlight on Chinese social media.
Tan Songyun Once Shared Her Ideal Partner Criteria
The story originated from the variety show Back to Field (向往的生活), hosted by He Jiong. During her appearance on the program several years ago, Tan Songyun chatted with him about her personal life.
Tan Songyun explained that she spent much of her time on film and television sets, leaving her with a relatively small social circle. She jokingly asked He Jiong to keep an eye out for a reliable single man among his acquaintances.
During the conversation, Tan Songyun also revealed that when she was younger, she had planned to get married at 27 and have a child before turning 30. However, those plans had yet to come true.
When discussing her ideal partner, the actress said the most important quality was someone who could understand her. That old conversation later became part of a resurfaced video that attracted renewed attention after netizens connected her name with Liu Xueyi.
Netizens Suggested Liu Xueyi as a Potential Match
The most surprising detail came from the video’s comment section. The top-liked comment at the time reportedly suggested Liu Xueyi as a suitable partner for Tan Songyun.
The commenter offered several reasons for the recommendation. Liu Xueyi is from Shandong, is a good cook, and was considered to have a good personality and character.
When the comment was posted, Tan Songyun and Liu Xueyi had no publicly known connection. They later got to know each other and became friends before working together for the first time as the lead stars of Against the Current.
An Old Comment Resurfaces After They Star Together
After Against the Current attracted viewers’ attention, netizens brought the old story back into the conversation. Some fans pointed out the coincidence that Liu Xueyi had once been suggested as a potential partner for Tan Songyun in an old video comment, years before the two actors eventually appeared in the same drama.
The discovery prompted fans to discuss whether the pair might be a good match, particularly after watching their interactions on screen. Some even described the coincidence as something that felt like fate.
However, the old comment does not establish that Tan Songyun and Liu Xueyi are romantically involved in real life. The discussion began with a netizen’s matchmaking suggestion years ago and resurfaced because the two actors are now starring together in the same drama.
