LayarHijau—Rising Chinese actress Zhou Ye suddenly became the center of public attention after a video capturing her private intimacy leaked online on Friday (May 22). However, management’s decision to remain passive, coupled with the actress’s public appearance later that evening, has sparked intense debate among fans.
According to footage released by paparazzi, the initial video showed Zhou Ye in close interactions with an unidentified man suspected to be her boyfriend. The clips quickly went viral across social media platforms, topping the hot search charts within a short period. For an actress currently experiencing significant career growth, such a transparent exposure of her personal life triggered an immediate backlash from her fandom.

In response to the situation, a number of fans reportedly swarmed the communication channels of Zhou Ye’s studio (management) to demand an official clarification to quell the escalating speculation among netizens. Nevertheless, management chose a passive approach, releasing no written statements or denials, allowing public opinion to unfold without intervention.
Fandom tensions escalated further after subsequent visual evidence surfaced, showing Zhou Ye attending a private dinner with actor Wang Xingyue at a restaurant in Beijing on Friday night (May 22). The two share a strong professional rapport after previously starring together in the popular drama Scent of Time (为有暗香来). In the footage, Zhou Ye maintained a calm composure and socialized naturally, making no effort to avoid the camera’s lens.
The actress’s relaxed demeanor and management’s silence have deeply polarized public opinion. On one hand, dedicated fans expressed deep disappointment, viewing the management as unresponsive and dismissive of the public concern surrounding the artist’s reputation. On the other hand, general netizens argued that romantic relationships and daily social interactions are matters of personal privacy that should not be heavily policed by the public or fan groups.
To date, neither Zhou Ye nor her studio has issued an official response or a written statement regarding their communication strategy in handling this situation.
