LayarHijau – Wang Xingyue is once again in the spotlight following leaked information about the airdate of his upcoming costume drama, along with newly surfaced photos from the set of his modern romance project. The young actor first gained recognition through supporting roles in One and Only and Story of Kunning Palace, before drawing wider attention with Scent of Time alongside Zhou Ye and The Double with Wu Jinyan. The success of The Double marked a major breakthrough, significantly boosting Wang Xingyue’s popularity and establishing him as one of the most promising male actors in Chinese dramas.
However, following that surge in fame, Wang Xingyue’s career path has not been entirely smooth. Over the past year, several of his projects received lukewarm responses from viewers. Costume drama Perfect Match with Lu Yuxiao, investigative series The Wanted Detective starring Xiang Hanzhi, and Republican-era drama Shadow Detective alongside Wu Jiayi all struggled to gain strong ratings. Now, Wang Xingyue is aiming for a comeback with his latest costume mystery drama, Unveil: Jadewind, which reunites him with Bai Lu for the fourth time.

Unveil: Jadewind is rumored to premiere on February 5 and is expected to air on Youku as well as China Central Television (CCTV). This fourth collaboration between Wang Xingyue and Bai Lu has long been anticipated by fans, especially given their strong on-screen chemistry and shared management background. The drama is widely seen as a crucial project that could help Wang Xingyue turn the tide after a series of underperforming works.
While audiences await the broadcast of Unveil: Jadewind, Wang Xingyue has also begun filming his latest modern idol drama, Gao Bai. The series is directed by the same director behind Deep Affection Eyes and pairs Wang Xingyue with Deng Enxi, a rising actress who gained widespread attention through Melody of Golden Age. In Gao Bai, Wang Xingyue takes on the role of a high school student, presenting a fresh and youthful image filled with a strong sense of teenage vitality. His appearance has already received positive feedback, with many praising how naturally he fits the role.
Photos and short clips from the Gao Bai set quickly caught public attention after circulating online. One scene shows Wang Xingyue and Deng Enxi wearing light blue school uniforms. Wang Xingyue sports a neat, straight-haired style typical of a model student, while Deng Enxi appears with a high ponytail and black-framed glasses. Their rooftop conversation and exchanged glances instantly evoke a classic campus drama atmosphere, filled with youthful nostalgia.
Another set of scenes reveals the two characters reuniting as adults in a snowy setting. Wang Xingyue is seen wearing a light brown coat paired with a deep blue scarf, while Deng Enxi looks gentle and elegant amid the falling snow. Despite the cold, the pair are shown holding hands, spinning together, and sharing a warm embrace. Many viewers praised the visuals for their strong Korean-drama vibe and overflowing romantic atmosphere.
There is also a tender indoor scene by a window that has drawn attention. As Deng Enxi reaches out to catch snowflakes, Wang Xingyue slowly traces his hand along the back of hers to her fingertips, before the two interlace their fingers. This subtle yet intimate detail was widely praised for its emotional depth and sweetness without feeling excessive.
Gao Bai is adapted from the popular novel of the same name by Ying Cheng. The story follows Xu Sui, a quiet and well-behaved girl who secretly harbors feelings for Zhou Jingze since high school. Determined by her unspoken love, Xu Sui enrolls in a university near him. The two eventually become a couple but separate due to a misunderstanding. Ten years later, Xu Sui has grown into a successful surgeon, while Zhou Jingze finds himself at a low point after being framed and falling into disgrace.
Their reunion brings unresolved emotions back to the surface. As Zhou Jingze steadily closes the distance and Xu Sui struggles to retreat, she realizes she has never truly been able to let him go. When the secret of her youthful, one-sided love is finally revealed, the two must face numerous obstacles together in order to find their way back to each other.
With Unveil: Jadewind set to premiere soon and Gao Bai already generating buzz during filming, Wang Xingyue is now at a critical moment in his career. Audiences are watching closely to see whether these two projects can restore him to the level of popularity he achieved during the height of The Double’s success.
