LayarHijau – The Chinese drama In the Name of Blossom, starring Yang Zi and Li Xian, is the sequel to Flourished Peony. Before its release, it was one of the most anticipated productions. However, after it aired, the series did not achieve the popularity many expected. Instead, supporting actor Miles Wei unexpectedly became a trending topic on Weibo for his standout performance and humorous remarks about his height.
According to a review by World Journal, the plot of In the Name of Blossom felt stagnant and slow in transitioning to its new main storyline. Several repetitive scenes made viewers feel that the episodes were unnecessarily stretched out. Despite the overall lukewarm reception, Miles Wei’s portrayal of Liu Chang became the main highlight, capturing the audience’s attention.

In the drama, Liu Chang is depicted as the ex-husband of He Wei Fang, who still harbors deep obsession and an unwillingness to let go. Miles Wei vividly portrays the character’s inner conflict and emotional wounds. His expressive gaze and subtle movements reflect the complexity of Liu Chang’s emotions. One particularly memorable scene features a tearful confession, conveying the character’s pain and struggle so powerfully that audiences are torn between hating him and feeling sorry for him.
Interestingly, Miles Wei also gained attention off-screen for his witty and down-to-earth responses. According to Sohu, there was an online debate about his height. Some netizens felt that his height in the drama did not match his official profile, joking that sometimes he appeared 1.7 meters tall and other times 1.8 meters. Miles Wei responded lightheartedly, saying that he did look like “1.7 meters” and “1.8 meters” in the drama, as if switching between them.
His playful response eased the tension and made many viewers see him as a humble and relatable personality. Discussions about Miles Wei even overshadowed the drama itself, and many people became his fans because of his charm and sincerity.
Miles Wei is known as a “sweet romance drama specialist,” particularly for his role in You Are My Secret. He began his acting career at the age of 26, having previously worked as a civil servant. He has also appeared in several popular dramas such as Word of Honor and Perfect and Casual. Although he was once dubbed the “eternal supporting actor,” his appearance and acting skills have often been regarded as leading actor material.
