LayarHijau.com — Following the major success of their 2021 drama Rattan, popular on-screen couple Jing Tian and Zhang Binbin are reuniting in a brand new project titled “Long Gu Fen Xiang” (龙骨焚箱), officially known in English as “Dragon Bone Incense Box”. The announcement immediately excited fans who affectionately call the duo Fang Si Teng Ni (放肆藤你).
Their first collaboration in Rattan was a surprising hit, earning a 7.8 rating on Douban and accumulating over 4.2 billion online views, making it one of the biggest sleeper hits of that year.
Dragon Bone Incense Box is adapted from the novel of the same name by author Wei Yu. Interestingly, the new drama will be produced by the original Rattan production team, promising equally high standards in both storytelling and visuals. The plot follows the journey of Shan Gui Wang Zuo Meng Qian Zi (played by Jing Tian) and Jiang Lian, an orphaned young man (played by Zhang Binbin), as they work together to unravel an ancient mystery spanning thousands of years.
To elevate its cinematic experience, the production is being filmed on location in Xiangxi, Guangxi, and Qinghai, and is collaborating with the visual effects team behind the sci-fi blockbuster The Wandering Earth. Spectacular scenes such as the “Hanging Coffin Mystery” and the “Phoenix Reborn in Flames” are expected to captivate audiences.
One noteworthy detail drawing attention is the billing order of the main cast. While Jing Tian was listed as the first lead in Rattan, the official announcement for this drama simply states “Jing Tian, Zhang Binbin (billing not in order).” This change sparked discussions online, though most fans remain supportive and believe the duo’s outstanding acting chemistry matters more than billing positions.
Long-time fans of the pairing believe their emotional chemistry and simmering tension remain unmatched in the industry, with many optimistic that Dragon Bone Incense Box could become a fantasy drama blockbuster of 2026.
The drama is currently in production and is expected to wrap filming by November 2025, with a summer 2026 release scheduled.
