Zhang Binbin’s Studio Issues Strong Warning
In an official statement titled Firm Opposition to Invasion of Privacy and Threats to Personal Safety, Zhang Binbin’s studio expressed outrage over the incident. They stated that the stalker’s actions crossed both legal and moral boundaries, severely infringing on Zhang’s privacy and personal safety.
The studio also called for a complete rejection of sasaeng (obsessive fan) behavior, listing several illegal actions including:
- Following, secretly filming, or harassing artists during private activities.
- Lurking near or illegally entering private spaces like residences and hotel rooms.
- Illegally obtaining, trading, or spreading artists’ personal information such as addresses and private data.
- Chasing cars or planes, blocking paths, initiating physical contact, disrupting public order, and endangering public safety.
The statement emphasized that such actions are criminal offenses. The studio warned that they would take all necessary legal measures to protect Zhang Binbin’s rights and hold offenders fully accountable.
A Call for Respect and Rational Fan Behavior
The studio also appealed to fans and the general public to support artists rationally and within the boundaries of the law. They urged people to respect artists’ personal space and safety, maintain a civilized and safe distance, and actively oppose any form of sasaeng behavior to promote a healthy social environment both online and offline.
“True love for an artist should be based on respect, understanding, and the protection of their legal rights. Please give them the space and respect they deserve,” the statement concluded.
At this time, further details about the stalker’s identity and the police investigation have not been disclosed. However, the case has once again highlighted the disturbing rise of sasaeng activity in China’s entertainment industry.
