LayarHijau.com — The controversy surrounding the $300,000 earrings worn by actress Huang Yang Tiantian recently stirred a social media frenzy in China. The public questioned the origin of such luxury, which in turn drew attention to her family background, especially her father, Yang, who once worked as a civil servant in Ya’an City, Sichuan Province.

In response to public scrutiny, the Ya’an municipal government formed a joint task force comprising disciplinary inspection, public security, and market supervision agencies to investigate Yang’s employment history. This preliminary investigation report was released by the Xinhua News Agency.

According to the findings, Yang took part in the civil service exam in October 2010 and began working in April 2011 at the Ya’an Urban Management Administrative Law Enforcement Detachment. In September 2014, he was transferred to the Investment Promotion Bureau and later to its subordinate institution, the Investment Promotion Service Center. He resigned in March 2017, citing family reasons.

Authorities confirmed that during his tenure, Yang was not involved in post-disaster reconstruction projects, including bidding processes, fund management, or charitable donations. The only project linked to him was the development of the Yunfeng Mountain tourist area in Yingjing County, which ultimately failed to attract investors.

Although cleared of allegations related to misuse of post-disaster funds, the investigation revealed that Yang is suspected of two administrative violations: Operating a business illegally while still a civil servant and concealing the birth of a second child, violating the one-child policy at the time.

An official investigation has been launched to address these potential legal and disciplinary breaches. The government pledged to handle the case seriously and in accordance with the law.

It should be emphasized that so far, the investigation has not covered the origin or ownership of the $300,000 earrings. The main focus remains on the alleged violations committed by Huang Yang Tiantian’s father as a civil servant.

The Ya’an government also noted that public sensitivity to this issue reflects citizens’ expectations for justice and transparency. The public is urged to wait for the final investigation results before drawing conclusions, as what is desired is not merely case closure but a full disclosure of the truth.
