However, it seems that this sudden fame has worn down the patience of the 26-year-old actor, as he was recently caught on camera losing his temper in public.
In an attempt to avoid being recognized, Cheng En was seen waiting quietly by the roadside, wearing a baseball cap and a mask. However, he was still recognized by a die-hard fan who appeared to have been following him around Shanghai.
The fan ignored Cheng En’s request to stop recording. Cheng En then lost his patience and aggressively snatched the fan’s phone, leading to a brief altercation.
Cheng En’s bodyguards then tried to intervene, with the actor heard shouting, “Stop recording! Why are you still recording?”
Following the incident, Cheng En’s fan club issued a statement condemning the stalker’s actions. According to them, the fan had illegally obtained Cheng En’s schedule to track his whereabouts.
“The fan club strongly condemns his behavior on behalf of all his fans,” the statement read, as reported by 8days.sg. They previously defended Cheng En’s actions, stating that he always maintained a good attitude.
However, netizen reactions were mixed after the video went viral. Some expressed empathy for Cheng En, saying that anyone would lose their cool when being stalked continuously. Others mentioned that this is the price one has to pay for being one of the most popular actors in China today. Alternatively, they suggested that he could have arranged for better security during his personal time.
