LayarHijau.com — Actor Gong Jun reportedly sustained an eye injury while filming the variety show Wow! The World (Chinese title: Di Qiu Chao Xin Xian / 地球超新鲜). The incident occurred during a game segment, where Gong Jun accidentally scraped the area around his eye socket while trying to dodge something.

According to a statement from Gong Jun’s studio, the injury was a “scratch” and did not affect the eyeball. On-site medical staff immediately provided disinfection and bandaging. The studio added that they had communicated with the production team to ensure proper emergency procedures were followed. They emphasized that the injury had been properly treated and that there are currently no serious issues. Going forward, the studio stated that professional medical personnel will be on standby for all future shoots.

Wow! The World is a travel and food-themed variety program that brings together celebrities to explore unique cuisines across the globe. The show focuses on providing sensory enjoyment for viewers and highlights the warmth of friendship through celebrity interactions, offering an escape from daily life.

Despite the studio’s clarification, the incident has sparked concern among fans. Footage from the set revealed a visible wound near Gong Jun’s right eye socket, just about 1 centimeter from his eye. The video raised serious questions about on-set safety standards.

Fans also expressed sharp criticism toward the performance of Gong Jun’s studio staff on the social media platform Weibo. Some of the comments include:

Gong Jun’s dedication to his work is admirable, but that’s no excuse for the studio staff to sit idly by and do nothing.

A group of “useless” staff only realized their artist was injured at the end, and no one accompanied him during overseas shoots.

This is not the first time the studio’s performance has been disappointing. Staff are accused of freeloading, being lazy, and showing no real care for the artist.

Fans pointed out that during long overseas filming periods, only two or three staff members like makeup artists and photographers went along, while the rest stayed in China enjoying their time off.

Critics also called out the studio’s vague response and questioned whether poor management will continue to be the norm.

This incident once again highlights the need for proper safety protocols on variety show sets and the importance of accountability in artist management.
