LayarHijau – BABYQUEEN, a virtual idol group powered by artificial intelligence (AI), has become a hot topic on social media after announcing that one of its members, Mity, is pregnant and will temporarily suspend all entertainment activities. The announcement came just before the group’s scheduled debut and sparked a wave of reactions online, ranging from confusion to sarcastic comments about the concept of virtual idols.
BABYQUEEN had only recently announced that its debut was “coming soon.” However, on the 12th, the group unexpectedly released a statement revealing that Mity, also known as Kim Min-ti, was expecting a child.

According to the announcement, the decision to suspend her activities was made after discussions between Mity and the group’s management. The move was intended to allow her to focus on maintaining her health during pregnancy and preparing for childbirth.
The suspension covers all group and individual activities, including variety shows and stage performances. BABYQUEEN also asked the public not to engage in excessive speculation about Mity’s private life, adding that a separate announcement would be made regarding her return.
Virtual Idol Group’s Pregnancy Announcement Draws Sarcastic Reactions
The announcement quickly became a topic of discussion online. Several netizens made sarcastic remarks about the news, particularly because the member reportedly expecting a child belongs to an AI-powered virtual idol project.
Some of the comments included, “You didn’t renew the subscription, did you?”, “The world really has gone crazy after all,” and “This is hilarious! Even AI has to get pregnant these days.”
The reactions reflected public disbelief over BABYQUEEN’s concept, especially given that the group had yet to make its official debut when the pregnancy announcement emerged.
BABYQUEEN consists of five virtual members. The storyline involving pregnancy and the subsequent suspension of one member’s activities has also prompted questions about how the characters in such projects are managed by their creators.
BABYQUEEN’s Creator Explains the Decision
Amid the wave of criticism, the creator behind BABYQUEEN also responded to the controversy. The creator explained that they are still a student and work on the project during their spare time outside of classes.
According to the creator, handling multiple roles alone is difficult. As a result, they came up with the idea of reducing the number of members through Mity’s pregnancy storyline.
The explanation drew further attention to the project’s behind-the-scenes circumstances. Although BABYQUEEN presents itself as a virtual idol group with its own members and management, the project is actually being handled by a student who must balance its development with academic responsibilities.
Mity Apologizes to Fans
Mity also issued an apology to fans, expressing how much she wanted to stand on stage alongside the other BABYQUEEN members. She added that she did not want fans to see the group performing with an incomplete lineup.
However, Mity said she now had to take responsibility for her own body and the new life she was expecting.
She also asked fans not to blame the other BABYQUEEN members and encouraged them to continue supporting the group. Mity promised that she would return to the stage once her health had recovered.
The announcement has put BABYQUEEN in the spotlight even before its official debut. The incident has also sparked discussion about the boundaries between virtual characters, storylines created by their makers, and how audiences perceive members of AI-powered idol projects.
