LayarHijau – South Korean comedian and broadcaster Kim Gu-ra has revealed how much his golf-focused YouTube channel has earned at its peak. He said the channel brought in 30 million to 40 million won, or roughly $21,900 to $29,200, in a month when its earnings were particularly strong.

The revelation came during a September 25 episode of GreeGura, Kim Gu-ra’s YouTube channel. The video, titled “Did This Comedian Hit It Big After Buying a Real Estate Boss a Meal?”, featured comedian Miki Kwangsu as a guest.

During the episode, Miki Kwangsu talked about running his own YouTube channel. He explained that the channel has relatively long watch times and a loyal audience, meaning 100,000 views on his channel can be different in value from the same number of views on another channel.

He then revealed that his YouTube revenue alone had exceeded 10 million won, or roughly $7,300, in a month.

The conversation then turned to Kim Gu-ra’s experience with YouTube. He brought up his golf channel, Kim Gu-ra’s Ppeokgugi Golf TV, and said it had also generated substantial revenue in the past.

“Ppeokgugi Golf was like that too. When it was doing particularly well, it brought in 30 to 40 million won,” Kim Gu-ra said.

Based on the current exchange rate, 30 million to 40 million won is approximately $21,900 to $29,200. The figure refers to a period when the channel was generating particularly high revenue and should not be interpreted as Kim Gu-ra’s fixed monthly income.

Why YouTube Is Not as Easy as It Looks

Kim In-man, who was also part of the conversation, reacted to the figures by suggesting that someone earning that much from YouTube could simply focus on the platform.

Miki Kwangsu, however, explained why making a living from YouTube is not necessarily that simple.

He said one of the challenges is coming up with new ideas consistently. Over time, creators can find themselves running out of ideas for fresh content.

The editing process can also be exhausting. Miki Kwangsu said that working on edits throughout the night can eventually leave creators feeling worn out.

His comments highlight the work involved behind YouTube revenue. While a channel with a loyal audience and strong viewing figures can generate significant income, maintaining that performance requires a steady flow of content ideas as well as considerable time for production and editing.

As for Kim Gu-ra, his 30 million to 40 million won figure specifically referred to periods when his golf channel was performing particularly well. It therefore does not represent a guaranteed monthly income.

Kim Gu-ra’s Ppeokgugi Golf TV currently has around 373,000 subscribers and more than 217 million views, according to third-party YouTube channel tracking data as of September 25.
