LayarHijau – Connie Francis’ song Pretty Little Baby, originally released in 1962 as a B-side, has made an unexpected comeback in 2025. B-side is the second track on a physical single—like a vinyl record or cassette—often considered a secondary or less-promoted song compared to the A-side. Despite its humble beginnings, the track has gone viral on YouTube, serving as the soundtrack for hundreds of thousands of short videos. It now sits alongside contemporary artists like Doechii and Billie Eilish in the platform’s list of the top 10 most-used songs in user videos this year.

The resurgence of this vintage hit stands out on YouTube’s 2025 year-end trending lists, which highlight the most popular videos, songs, creators, and cultural moments. Still, the lists are dominated by hits from the animated sensation KPop Demon Hunters and the ever-popular MrBeast, who has now appeared on YouTube’s top creator list for six years in a row.

New for 2025: Personalized Trend Recaps

YouTube also rolled out a new feature this year, YouTube Recap, allowing users to view and share a summary of their personal viewing and listening habits. The move comes in response to user demand, as noted in the company’s blog, and is inspired by popular creators like Marques Brownlee (MKBHD). Other streaming services have offered similar features, including Spotify’s Wrapped, Apple Music’s Replay, and Amazon Music’s Delivered.

The year’s most-searched topics included the dystopian South Korean drama Squid Game, Labubu plush toys, and user-generated content on the Roblox platform, such as Grow a Garden, a farming game where players plant, harvest, and earn in-game currency.

The trends also reflect the strong presence of conservative political content online, with Shawn Ryan, Joe Rogan, and Theo Von among the top 10 podcasts, while the late influencer Charlie Kirk appeared on both the top U.S. creators list and trending topics list.

On the music side, alongside KPop Demon Hunters, Kendrick Lamar made two entries with “Luther” (featuring SZA) and “tv off,” while Bruno Mars appeared on two collaborations—one with Lady Gaga (Die With A Smile) and another with Rosé (APT). YouTube notes that user-created content featuring APT helped the video become the fastest K-pop music video to reach one billion views on the platform.
