LayarHijau – A hashtag related to the Chinese drama Pursuit of Jade (逐玉) trended on Weibo on March 17, even reaching seventh place. The discussion was fueled by claims from several users that the drama had achieved a high ranking on Netflix Korea.

One Weibo user shared a screenshot claimed to be from the Netflix Korea homepage. In the post, they wrote that Pursuit of Jade had “surged to second place on the drama chart in Korea,” adding that the drama’s popularity could potentially push its lead actress, Tian Xiwei, ahead of other rising actresses.

The hashtag quickly drew a wide range of reactions. Some users claimed the drama had indeed reached No. 2 on Netflix Korea, even calling it the highest ranking ever achieved by a Chinese drama on the platform in that market. They also suggested that Korean viewers are beginning to embrace high-quality content from overseas.
Others, however, felt the result was unsurprising. They argued that Pursuit of Jade is genuinely engaging, while also noting that recent Korean dramas have been criticized for lacking innovation.
At the same time, skepticism emerged. Some users accused the ranking of being manipulated, claiming the drama’s appearance in the Top 10 was the result of artificial boosting. One post even included screenshots said to be comments from Korean Netflix users questioning how the drama made it into the popular list.
Even so, such comments cannot be considered strong evidence of manipulation. Popularity on streaming platforms does not always align with general public awareness, meaning a title can rank highly even if it is not widely discussed.
Amid the debate, data from FlixPatrol shows that as of March 16, 2026, Pursuit of Jade ranked No. 5 on Netflix South Korea’s Top 10 list. The No. 1 and No. 2 spots were held by Phantom Lawyer and Boyfriend on Demand.

The gap between claims of a No. 2 ranking and this data is likely due to how quickly rankings can fluctuate on Netflix. The Top 10 list can shift within a short period, meaning a title may briefly reach a higher position before dropping as the data updates.
Looking at its performance over the past week, the drama’s ranking has indeed fluctuated, ranging from No. 6 to a peak of No. 2.
Pursuit of Jade is currently the only Chinese drama in Netflix Korea’s Top 10. Beyond South Korea, it has also performed strongly in several other regions.
In Hong Kong and Taiwan, the drama has reached No. 1. Meanwhile, in Indonesia, its ranking has fluctuated between No. 4 and No. 5 over the past week.
In Thailand, a similar pattern can be seen, with the drama alternating between No. 1 and No. 2 throughout the week.
The contrast between social media claims and aggregated data has further intensified the discussion, highlighting the growing attention surrounding the drama’s global performance.
