LayarHijau— A rumor posted anonymously on Weibo alleging a past one-night stand between a 1990s-born actress and a 1975-born actor has gone viral, with some users calling it a “major entertainment scandal.” Despite lacking any names, locations, or credible sources, the topic shot to the top of the trending list, triggering widespread speculation and heated debate among netizens.
According to Chinese media reports, the rumor only offered vague hints: the woman is a well-known actress from the post-90s generation who is not considered a top traffic star, while the man is said to be a nationally recognized actor born in the mid-1970s. It also claimed the alleged encounter happened years ago, when they were both regular guests on a highly popular variety show that was not a talent competition.
The poster emphasized that both parties were reportedly single at the time, insisting that the situation did not involve infidelity. However, the absence of concrete details such as the show’s name, timeframe, or any evidence makes the information purely speculative.

Even so, Weibo users quickly began guessing who the pair might be. Dozens of actresses — including Li Qin, Tan Songyun, Zhou Yutong, and Lan Yingying — were dragged into viral polls. Likewise, prominent actors like Chen Kun, Zhang Yi, Deng Chao, and Huang Xiaoming became subjects of online suspicion. The baseless accusations have stirred anger among fan communities as more names are mentioned without proof.
Some names were later dismissed for reasons such as being married during the rumored period, rarely appearing in variety programs, or not matching the age or career timeline. Yet the more netizens attempted to narrow down the possibilities, the more names were pulled into the frenzy, expanding the rumor’s reach even further.
As speculation grew increasingly irrational, many netizens criticized the social media platform. They questioned how such an unverified rumor could dominate the trending list and lead to a harmful “identity hunt” that may damage public figures’ reputations.
Comments such as “How can something with no real source become the No.1 trend? Doesn’t Weibo moderate anything?” and “Anyone could be accused at this point — this is dangerous,” gained support. Others argued that the platform should curb content that fuels public curiosity while lacking factual basis.
Meanwhile, some netizens downplayed the situation, saying, “If they were both single, it’s their private business,” and “People’s bedroom lives aren’t newsworthy.” Others condemned the anonymous poster as attention-seeking and spreading rumors for clicks.
So far, none of the celebrities named by netizens have responded or issued clarifications. The incident illustrates how nameless speculation on social media can quickly spiral out of control and create real-world consequences when left unchecked.
