LayarHijau – The death of Yu Menglong still leaves many questions unanswered. Previously, LayarHijau reported that, according to investigations by netizens in China, besides Yu Menglong, there were eight to nine other stars under Tianyu Media (EE-Media) management who suffered unfortunate fates. Some died under circumstances similar to Yu Menglong, some in accidents, and some disappeared mysteriously. Two of them are Qiao Renliang and Lu Jiarong (Kelsey Lu). In our earlier article, her name was mistakenly translated as Lu Jiayong.
Lu Jiarong’s story reflects the vulnerability of a celebrity under the pressure of a powerful agency. Known as a prolific actress, she was often at the center of sensitive rumors, ranging from alleged moral scandals to mental health issues, and periods of lost contact that caused public panic. Her story is a clear example of how intense attention in the Chinese entertainment industry can create enormous pressure for young stars.

Quick Profile: A Rising Star from Shanghai Theatre Academy
Lu Jiarong was born on July 5, 1984, in Shandong and graduated from Shanghai Theatre Academy. She began her professional career after graduation, building her reputation through roles in popular dramas. Her debut in 2009 was followed by notable roles in historical dramas such as Beauty’s Schemes (2010), The Palace: The Lock Heart Jade (2011), and as Lan Fenghuang in The Smiling, Proud Wanderer (2013). In addition to costume dramas, Jiarong also appeared in modern dramas such as Execution Sword (2018), and earned several awards, including Best Actress of the Year from Guangxi TV in 2019.
Career Conflicts and Alleged Unwritten Rules
Despite her success, Jiarong’s journey was not free from conflicts and industry pressures. In China, speculation exists about “unwritten rules” that require artists to comply with producers or executives. Refusing these demands could seriously affect one’s career. Jiarong’s studio frequently issued official statements to refute rumors, including misuse of her photos for fake advertisements. This tension highlighted the real pressure between artists and aggressive gossip media.
The Most Sensitive Rumor: Allegations of Prostitution and Drug Use
In June 2019, Lu Jiarong became the target of controversial rumors on social media. Some accounts accused her of damaging her reputation, including alleged inappropriate professional relationships (so-called “friends with benefits”) and possible drug use, with claims of evidence of fund transfers.
Jiarong’s management responded firmly, stating all claims were false and deliberate attempts to defame her. They also threatened legal action against those spreading the rumors. This move emphasized the studio’s efforts to protect her reputation amid intense industry and public scrutiny.
