LayarHijau – Chinese actor Wei Daxun is once again winning over viewers with his comedic timing, this time through an improvised skit with Li Xueqin on the variety show Hello Saturday. Because the scene was not based on a fixed script, Wei Daxun appeared genuinely confused and slightly panicked when Li Xueqin suddenly questioned why his character had sold the house. His spontaneous answer ended up becoming the funniest part of the scene and a new meme among Chinese netizens.
In the skit, Li Xueqin played someone who kindly allowed Wei Daxun’s character to stay at her house for two days. However, as the scene unfolded, she discovered that he had apparently sold the house.

When Li Xueqin questioned why he had sold it, Wei Daxun looked as though he was trying to come up with an explanation on the spot. He initially responded, “I thought you didn’t want it anymore.”
But when he was pressed for a further explanation, Wei Daxun came up with an even more absurd answer.
“Because two days was enough to sell it,” Wei Daxun said.
What made the moment even funnier was his innocent expression. Rather than delivering the line like a carefully prepared punchline, he looked as though he was genuinely trying to justify what he had done after being caught off guard by the question. The combination of his brief confusion, slight panic and completely illogical explanation made the improvisation even more entertaining.
The clip quickly circulated online, with Chinese media reporting that footage of Wei Daxun and Li Xueqin was repeatedly shared and recreated by users across platforms including Weibo and Douyin.
The “two days was enough to sell it” line became one of the most talked-about moments from the scene. Several netizens praised Wei Daxun’s improvisational instincts, with some describing his ability to react in the moment as exceptionally strong. Others even called the scene a “textbook example of improv comedy.”
Some viewers said they had to watch the clip several times before fully appreciating how absurd the exchange was. Others turned the moment into memes, including memes portraying Wei Daxun’s character as a “sales champion” for managing to sell a house in just two days.
This is hardly the first time Wei Daxun has produced unexpectedly funny lines on variety shows and promotional programs.
While promoting one of his dramas, Wei Daxun once joked, “If you want to make eye contact with me, you’ll have to stand on the stairs.” The remark came during a discussion involving their height difference and became one of the lines viewers remembered from the appearance.
On another occasion, when he was asked to pay for a hotel stay and dinner, Wei Daxun gave an equally absurd response: “That money has already reached its due date. I can’t withdraw it.”
Both examples highlight the same comedic style seen in his latest appearance with Li Xueqin. Wei Daxun does not always need a carefully prepared punchline to make people laugh. His spontaneous responses, especially when they sound completely illogical but are delivered with an innocent expression, often become the funniest moments of his appearances.
That side of Wei Daxun also stands in sharp contrast to several of the more serious characters he has played in dramas.
In Fireworks of My Heart (我的人间烟火), Wei Daxun played Meng Yanchen, the adoptive older brother of Xu Qin, played by Wang Churan. Meng Yanchen is portrayed as calm, serious and authoritative, with an important position within Xu Qin’s family. He generally maintains a controlled and composed demeanor.
Another contrast can be seen in The Guilty (有罪之身), the drama in which Wei Daxun stars alongside Sun Qian. He plays Lu Ming, a former law student who later works as a professional debt collector for a financial firm.
Lu Ming becomes entangled in a series of criminal cases connected to his past. He then attempts to uncover the hidden truth behind those cases and gather evidence to expose what really happened. The character has a far more serious side than the version of Wei Daxun audiences often see when he is improvising comedy on variety shows.
In his latest drama with Zhao Jinmai, Irreplaceable (无可替代), Wei Daxun plays Ye Xinzhi, a senior partner at an international consulting firm. The character is portrayed as mature, composed, intelligent and highly calculating.
Behind his image as a successful professional, Ye Xinzhi carries the scars of having once been made a scapegoat by his former superior. He eventually returns to the consulting world with his own plan to seek justice and settle the score for what happened to him.
The contrast between these characters and Wei Daxun’s variety-show persona makes his performances even more striking. On screen in dramas, he has played characters who are serious, composed, calculating and authoritative. In an improvisational setting, however, he can look genuinely confused and panicked as he searches for an answer, only to come up with something completely unexpected.
His scene with Li Xueqin is the latest example. With no fully predetermined dialogue, Wei Daxun appeared caught off guard when asked why he had sold the house. Yet his momentary panic ultimately produced the innocent response, “Because two days was enough to sell it,” turning an improvised exchange into another memorable comedy moment and another example of his knack for creating viral lines on the spot.
