LayarHijau – Chinese drama Irreplaceable, starring Zhao Jinmai and Wei Daxun, officially premiered on September 28, 2026. The urban workplace romance is streaming exclusively on Youku, while also airing on CCTV-8 and launching internationally on Netflix.
Based on an original screenplay, Irreplaceable is set in the high-pressure world of elite business consulting. The story follows Xu Chi (Zhao Jinmai), a young woman carrying the scars of family trauma who is determined to buy back her family’s old home.
To achieve that goal, Xu Chi joins a consulting firm filled with intense competition and corporate intrigue. There, she meets Ye Xinzhi (Wei Daxun), a senior partner who appears calm and composed but is secretly planning revenge after being framed earlier in his career.

In Irreplaceable, Zhao Jinmai plays Xu Chi, a character that allows her to explore a different side of her acting.
Xu Chi initially appears to struggle with social interactions at work. Beneath that reserved exterior, however, she is sharp-minded, determined, and capable of holding her own in a highly competitive consulting industry.
Her personal goal is clear: she wants to buy back her family’s old home. That determination prevents her from simply giving in to workplace pressure or accepting the circumstances around her.

Ye Xinzhi’s appearance is also part of his character appeal. Wei Daxun wears thin-framed glasses and sharply tailored suits, reinforcing the image of an elite professional in the business world.
Wei Daxun previously gained widespread attention for playing Meng Yancheng in the drama Fireworks of My Heart.
In Irreplaceable, he once again portrays an elite figure, but Ye Xinzhi is far more calculating beneath the surface. He is not simply Xu Chi’s senior or mentor, as he also has personal motives and a carefully concealed plan of his own.

Beyond Xu Chi, Irreplaceable introduces two other major female characters with their own challenges.
Bu Tianna (Hu Yixuan) faces the pressure of taking over her family business. Meanwhile, Lin Long (Bai Bing) has a storyline centered on rebuilding both her career and family life.
Each woman faces different challenges in the professional world. Xu Chi is trying to establish herself as a newcomer, Bu Tianna has to deal with the expectations surrounding succession of the family business, while Lin Long is working through the process of rebuilding the balance between her career and family.
Through these three characters, the drama does not reduce its female characters to supporting roles in a romance. Career pressure, family issues, professional competition, and relationships among colleagues all become part of their individual journeys.
The drama also portrays the relationships between the women as more complicated than simple rivalry. They may compete with one another professionally, but can also support each other when circumstances demand it.

Irreplaceable is written by Zhang Wei and co-directed by Chen Mingzhang and Chen Shiyi.
Chen Mingzhang previously directed several popular dramas, including Fated to Love You and Remembering Lichuan. Fated to Love You is a 2008 Taiwanese drama, while Remembering Lichuan is a 2016 drama starring Godfrey Gao and Jiao Junyan.
Zhang Wei is also known for her work on several dramas, including A Dream of Splendor. The promotional materials for Irreplaceable note that Zhang Wei and Chen Mingzhang are collaborating again after 16 years.
