LayarHijau – Chinese actress Bai Lu recently revealed that she suffered from a mysterious illness in August that left her unable to eat and caused significant weight loss. She shared this story during the wrap-up ceremony for her drama Mo Li (莫离), held at Ningbo Xiangshan Film and Television City on Thursday, October 10.
During the event, Bai Lu told her fans that she had been absent from social media throughout August because she was struggling with an undiagnosed health issue. “Even until today, the cause remains unknown,” she said, as reported by Xiaoxiang Morning Post (via World Journal).

The actress, born on September 23, 1994, said her symptoms began on July 18. “It started as a headache, then the pain spread to my neck and spine. I went to many doctors, but no one could figure out what was wrong,” she recalled.
For almost a month, Bai Lu devoted herself to treatment. “When I was sick, I felt weak and hopeless. I couldn’t eat anything, and my weight dropped to only 86 jin (about 95 lbs),” she said. Thanks to acupuncture and traditional medicine over the course of a month, her condition has now mostly recovered.
On the afternoon of October 10, Bai Lu shared four photos from the set on her social media account with the caption, “Happy wrap-up.” In the photos, she appeared cheerful and radiant, smiling playfully in some shots and tearful in others.
Interestingly, fans had already expressed concern back in July when behind-the-scenes photos from Mo Li were leaked online. Bai Lu appeared visibly thinner, with sunken eyes and signs of fatigue on her face.
According to local media, Bai Lu intentionally lost 10 to 15 jin (around 5–7.5 kilograms) to embody the frail and cold temperament of her orphaned character in Mo Li. Her weight dropped from around 95 jin (about 105 lbs) to roughly 80 jin (about 88–93 lbs) over the span of four months.
While many fans praised her dedication to the role, others expressed worry. “Health comes before everything else,” one fan commented on Weibo. Another wrote, “Even when Bai Lu isn’t feeling well, she always endures it quietly and only shares the good news later. She never complains, and that sincerity makes us love her even more.”
Bai Lu, whose real name is Bai Mengyan, first entered the entertainment industry in 2016 through her appearance in Lu Hu’s music video Liuyan. In recent years, she has starred in numerous hit dramas, including Story of Kunning Palace, Only for Love, Till the End of the Moon, One and Only, Love Is Sweet, and The Legends. Her latest modern drama Northward premiered on March 3, 2025, in which she plays the character Xia Fenghua.
