LayarHijau– Chinese actor Yu Menglong, who rose to fame playing Yang Mi’s fourth brother in the drama Eternal Love, was reported dead on September 11 at the age of 36 after falling from a building. The incident triggered a wave of conspiracy theories on social media, even implicating well-known figures in the entertainment industry, and sparked heated debate.

Five days after the tragedy, Yu Menglong’s studio suddenly released a screenshot said to be a statement from his mother. The post quickly stirred widespread discussion online.

On the evening of September 16, Yu Menglong’s mother spoke publicly for the first time. In deep sorrow, she stated that her son’s death was the result of a “drinking accident.” She added, “This sudden change has plunged us into deep grief.” She emphasized that the police had already informed the family of their investigation results, dismissing the various conspiracy theories circulating online as nonsense, and urged the public to refrain from further speculation.

She went on to say that the funeral had been completed and the family only wished to return to a peaceful life. “With the memory of Menglong, we strive to live each day to the fullest. I believe this is also Menglong’s wish,” she said.

However, the statement failed to ease public doubts. Many still questioned whether the cause of death was really that simple. Writer Lu Ban even bluntly claimed, “It is very likely a homicide, but the suspect’s background is too strong,” further fueling confusion.

Netizens also questioned the authenticity of the statement. One asked, “Is it so hard for the police to release an official statement with white characters on a blue background? The case details are public, but no one knows who’s behind the studio. Why do they have the right to issue a statement on behalf of Yu Menglong’s mother?”

Another criticized, “The studio issued a statement? Then what are the police doing? With such huge public opinion, why not explain the details to reassure everyone? They just want to silence the public. Why don’t they show evidence?”

Some even doubted whether the statement truly came from Yu’s mother, saying, “You just typed it randomly and claimed it was from Menglong’s mother,” “The tone doesn’t sound like a mother’s, it’s too official,” and “Are you sure? What kind of mother would say that?”

As of now, the police have yet to release any official statement regarding Yu Menglong’s death.
