In recent days, various hashtags related to Kim Sae-ron and Kim Soo-hyun have frequently appeared in Weibo’s hot search trends. One of the hashtags that trended today is linked to paintings created by Kim Sae-ron.
According to Korean media reports, actress Kim Sae-ron was found deceased at her home on February 16 at the age of 24. On the same day, the YouTube channel Garosero Research Institute released several paintings of Kim Sae-ron from her lifetime with her family’s consent.

One striking painting depicts a man and a woman embracing and kissing. The faces of the characters appear distorted, and their bodies are covered with numerous black and red blocks, creating a suffocating sense of collapse. Korean psychologists interpret this artistic expression as a reflection of Kim Sae-ron’s contradictory psychology in intimate relationships—”longing to be loved but afraid of being hurt.” The embrace, which should convey a sense of security, is instead filled with strong unease. Additionally, images such as distorted facial features and a dark night background may reflect emotional distress from the creator.
Many netizens in China have expressed their concern upon learning about the emotional burdens that Kim Sae-ron carried during her life. One Weibo user questioned society’s contrasting attitude towards the actress while she was alive compared to after her passing.
Now, the global community seems to support and love the actress. However, when Kim Sae-ron was alive and involved in a drunk driving incident, the public boycotted her and even refused to offer her work.
According to the Korea Times, the family of the late Kim Sae-ron has demanded an official apology from actor Kim Soo-hyun and his agency regarding allegations that he had a romantic relationship with Kim Sae-ron when she was a minor. The family is also preparing to file a defamation complaint against YouTuber Lee Jin-ho, as reported by Newsis and other outlets on Sunday.
In a live broadcast shared by the YouTube channel HoverLab (Garo Sero Institute) on Saturday, Kim Sae-ron’s family issued a statement in response to the recent position released by Kim Soo-hyun’s agency, Gold Medalist. In the statement, the family requested Kim Soo-hyun to acknowledge that he dated Kim Sae-ron when she was still a minor and to issue an official apology. They also demanded an apology from his agency, which has denied the relationship for the past three years.
The family emphasized that they did not mention Kim Soo-hyun by name in their initial statement to focus on warning YouTuber Lee Jin-ho and other online content creators. However, they felt it was necessary to reveal the fact that Kim Sae-ron had a romantic relationship with Kim Soo-hyun, which led to the release of related photos.
Chronology of Kim Sae-ron and Kim Soo-hyun’s Love Story
The family stated that Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Sae-ron were in a relationship from 2015 to 2021. On March 14, Kim Soo-hyun’s side acknowledged the relationship but denied that it began while Kim Sae-ron was still a minor, claiming instead that they dated from the summer of 2019 to the fall of 2020, after Kim Sae-ron had reached adulthood.
With this demand, Kim Sae-ron’s family hopes that Kim Soo-hyun and his agency will acknowledge their mistakes and issue a proper apology.
