According to reports, Barbie Hsu was infected with Influenza A. Yesterday, February 4, young Chinese actor Liang Youcheng was also reported to have passed away, with some sources speculating that he too may have contracted Influenza A. Liang Youcheng was 27 years old.
An insider revealed that Youcheng initially believed he only had a common cold, but his condition deteriorated rapidly, resulting in an infection of the central nervous system. Despite receiving emergency treatment, he passed away in the hospital on January 30. No family members were present at his side at that time.
Infections of the central nervous system can be caused by viruses, bacteria, and fungi, leading to inflammation of the brain and spinal cord. Common symptoms include fever, severe headaches, and vomiting—similar to flu symptoms, according to 8days.sg.
While mild cases typically recover with timely treatment, severe cases can result in paralysis, dementia, or even death.
Youcheng, who hailed from Sichuan, appeared in many period dramas, often playing supporting roles such as bodyguards or stunt doubles. He is best known for his roles in “My Heart” (2021) and “Echo of Her Voice” (2024).
These two losses serve as a reminder of the importance of vigilance against influenza and the serious impact this illness can have.
