The hashtag for Zhao Lusi’s profile picture, depicting a cocoon transforming into a butterfly, is trending on Weibo. Users are sharing screenshots of Zhao Lusi’s chat on the messaging app, showing her new profile picture.
Fans have been posting their prayers for the idol on Weibo, hoping for her swift recovery.
“It will get better; it will truly get better! Waiting for you to come back safe and healthy,” wrote one Weibo user.
Meanwhile, other fans continue to demand that Zhao Lusi’s management, studio, and the team behind the drama “Almost Lover” issue a clear statement addressing the actress’s health concerns.
“Even if a regular employee in a company falls ill, their boss would send a WeChat message to show concern and ask about their condition. But our Galaxy Cool Entertainment, a major entertainment media company, shows no care for its most popular artist. They just shut down operations and run away. The director of ‘Almost Lover’ has already changed the introduction on Weibo but hasn’t taken the time to release a statement explaining the specific situation,” lamented one fan.
So why did Zhao Lusi choose a photo of a butterfly emerging from a cocoon? Although the actress hasn’t explained the meaning behind the photo, there is a common interpretation we can draw.
The symbol of a cocoon transforming into a butterfly often represents transformation, growth, and change. This metamorphosis illustrates the journey from a closed and confined state (the cocoon) to a more beautiful and free form (the butterfly).
Zhao Lusi chose this photo after a video of her being rushed to the emergency room went viral. She appeared so weak that she needed to be transported in a wheelchair. Her friend, actress Wei Xiao, later revealed that Zhao Lusi was suffering from aphasia, which caused her to be unable to stand or speak for a time.
Zhao Lusi’s condition has certainly caused concern among fans in China and internationally. Many fans blame her management and studio, as well as the team from “Almost Lover,” for neglecting to take care of the actress’s health.
Seeing Zhao Lusi’s choice of a profile picture of a cocoon transforming into a butterfly, we can interpret that the actress remains optimistic about her health and feels that what she is experiencing is part of her process to grow and become better.
