LayarHijau— The new Chinese crime drama “See Her Again” has made waves as the first series of its kind to debut simultaneously on Netflix in both domestic and international markets. With its premiere on November 20, the show garnered an impressive rating of 8.3 out of 10 on MyDramaList and quickly rose to become the second most popular Hong Kong TV drama on Netflix within three days.
Set against the backdrop of Hong Kong in 1993, the narrative follows a police officer, played by William Chan, who is embroiled in the investigation of a suspect linked to a series of murders. During a tense chase, he becomes trapped in a malfunctioning elevator that plummets, resulting in a coma. When he awakens in 2018, he is devastated to find his wife and daughter missing, and their apartment now occupied by new residents. His only hope of reuniting with his family is to solve the murder cases from 25 years earlier.

Born in Hong Kong in 1985, William Chan revealed that the show’s time-travel theme drew him in. He appreciates how it presents police work in a unique light and offers him the chance to explore the role of a father, something that resonates with him as an unmarried man.
The cast also includes Liu Yase, and the series aims to reach a wider audience, with plans for streaming on major platforms in countries like Singapore and Malaysia, alongside broadcasts on TV channels in Japan and Thailand, as noted by China Daily.
Produced in collaboration with Tencent Video and the Shenzhen-based Drama Apple Limited, “See Her Again” benefits from a seasoned cast and crew, including several prestigious award winners. Liu Yase, for instance, won the Best Actress award at the 40th Hong Kong Film Awards for her role in “Limbo.” Chan himself was honored as the Most Popular Actor at the Vancouver Chinese Film Festival for his performance in “Adoring.”
Critics have praised the series for its engaging plot twists, emotional resonance, and nostalgic elements of Hong Kong culture. These factors combine to create a compelling example of storytelling that is rich in cultural significance and appealing to audiences around the globe.
