The latest appearance took place on September 24, when the actress was preparing to fly to Milan, Italy, to attend FERRAGAMO’s Spring/Summer 2027 fashion show.
Nana wore a simple white top and kept her airport look relatively understated. However, her appearance quickly attracted attention because the shape of her lips had previously become a major talking point among viewers of The Scandal, prompting the actress to apologize.
Her short haircut also caught attention at the airport. Nana had traded her longer hairstyle for a short bob with above-the-brow bangs and deliberately uneven ends, giving her overall look a more edgy and contemporary feel.
The controversy surrounding Nana’s lips began after The Scandal premiered on Netflix on September 18. In the series, Nana plays Hee-yeon, a young widow who has remained devoted to chastity for years.
The Scandal marks Nana’s first Korean historical drama since her debut. She stars alongside Son Ye Jin and Ji Chang Wook in a story involving the three characters in a dangerous game shaped by desire, temptation and complicated relationships.
After the series was released, some viewers took issue with Nana’s fuller-looking lips in several scenes. They felt the appearance did not fit the Joseon-era setting and said it made it more difficult for them to become immersed in the story.
The online discussion eventually led to speculation over whether Nana had undergone a lip filler procedure. However, Nana has never explicitly confirmed that she received lip fillers.
On September 22, Nana addressed the criticism through a communication platform for fans. She apologized if the appearance of her lips made viewers uncomfortable or interfered with their ability to become immersed in the story.
Nana also acknowledged that the personal choice she had made regarding her appearance was, in her view, not the right choice for her as an actress. She added that she felt even more sorry knowing that her fans had to see the harsh criticism directed at her.
Her statement, however, did not specifically confirm that she had received lip fillers. She also did not say whether the change in her appearance was related to a filler-dissolving procedure or any other treatment.
That made Nana’s September 24 appearance at Incheon International Airport particularly noticeable. In photos from the airport, her lips appeared thinner than they had while she was playing Hee-yeon in The Scandal.
The difference, however, does not establish what caused the change in her appearance. Public photos alone cannot determine whether it was related to an aesthetic procedure, makeup, lighting, camera angles or other factors.
