LayarHijau – Hong Kong actor and singer William Chan has finally opened up for the first time about why he and model He Sui decided to go public with the birth of their child. In a recent interview, he stressed that the announcement wasn’t sudden at all, but something the couple had planned together long ago.
William Chan also spoke about his long-term relationship with He Sui. He explained that the two chose not to discuss their private life publicly in order to protect each other and prevent their relationship from affecting their careers. “For years, we’ve kept our personal life out of the spotlight because we wanted to protect one another. Even though we’ve always lived quietly, working in such a unique industry makes us not want to hide our child,” he said.
He added that he hopes his son will grow up knowing that his birth brought joy to his parents. “When he’s older, I want him to know that he is a blessing. His arrival gave us the courage to face the world,” William Chan shared.
Responding to public reactions that the announcement felt unexpected, William Chan offered clarification. “A lot of people might think I suddenly dropped a bomb. But this wasn’t a bomb. We’ve been together for many years—we just never addressed anything publicly. Our little one’s arrival was planned. It may look sudden from the outside, but for us, everything happened according to our own wishes and timeline.”
William Chan and He Sui announced the birth of their first son on October 18, 2025, through posts on Weibo. Both shared photos including an ultrasound image, pictures taken during the pregnancy, and a shot of them holding their newborn. Their simple but heartfelt caption—“Dad, mom, and him”—quickly went viral, topping social media searches in China and marking the first public confirmation of their long-kept relationship and new life as parents.
