LayarHijau – The cast of the historical romance drama Fight For Love (山河枕) gathered in Beijing on November 7 for a special fan event. Leading stars Victoria Song and Ding Yuxi appeared together on stage alongside supporting actors Liang Xuefeng, Zhou Dawei, and Li Huan to promote the upcoming series.
One of the highlights came when Ding Yuxi was asked to reenact a famous scene from the drama where his character protects his sister-in-law. The host playfully challenged him to add the line, “I want to marry you.” Looking flustered, Ding shyly said, “Jiejie, jiejie, I want to marry you,” before lowering his head in embarrassment — a moment that sent the audience into loud cheers, while Victoria Song tried to suppress her laughter beside him.
During the group interview, the two stars responded to fan-created nicknames for their on-screen pairing, including “Yu Yun You Chang” (瑜韫悠长, Yú Yùn yōu cháng) — a clever wordplay based on their characters’ names Chu Yu (楚瑜) and Wei Yun (卫韫). The phrase carries a poetic meaning, symbolizing a love that is “long and enduring.” Another nickname given by fans is “Fishing Couple” (钓系夫妻, diào xì fūqī).
The “Fishing Couple” term reflects the dynamics between their characters. Wei Yun, played by Ding Yuxi, is likened to the ancient figure Jiang Taigong (姜太公), known for fishing without bait — representing patience and strategy while waiting for the right person to come along. Meanwhile, Victoria Song’s character Chu Yu is described as someone who “fishes without realizing it,” meaning she attracts others naturally through sincerity and openness. In short, the two are portrayed as partners who unintentionally “hook” each other’s hearts.
These nicknames are more than just playful labels. Fans use them to express their hope that the couple’s relationship in the drama will feel genuine and emotionally deep. If the “Fishing Couple” describes the playful push-and-pull of their early connection, “Yu Yun You Chang” symbolizes its outcome — a love that’s tender, mature, and everlasting.
The event’s energy reached its peak when the two actors playfully mimicked a “mutual fishing” scene on stage before striking a pose together holding a sword and spear, reminiscent of their characters in the series. The crowd erupted in excitement, thrilled to see the natural chemistry between them — as if Chu Yu and Wei Yun had stepped straight out of the screen.
Although some viewers in both China and Indonesia previously commented that the on-screen chemistry felt less convincing due to their age gap and contrasting styles, the fan meeting offered a lighter, more playful glimpse of their real-life rapport.
