LayarHijau – After Chinese actor Yu Menglong was officially reported dead from a fall on September 11 with the authorities declaring it “not a criminal case,” all discussions about the cause of his death were swiftly censored. Online topics related to the case were blocked, and those attempting to speak out were reportedly summoned for “interviews.” Despite the silence, rumors continue to swirl, and one name has surfaced: young director Xin Qi.
Xin Qi is rumored to be distantly related to President Xi Jinping. Reports from Chinese online media suggest that his family background is notable, with claims that his aunt is actress Tian Hairong, widow of the late tycoon Xu Ming. Although Tian Hairong left the entertainment industry, she still controls a massive inheritance and is said to remain influential behind the scenes. Xin Qi’s mother is named as Tian Haiyan, who reportedly owns multiple security companies in Hubei.
More sensationally, some online speculation alleges that Xin Qi is the illegitimate son of Cai Qi, a member of the Communist Party’s Politburo Standing Committee. Born in 1991, Xin Qi has already risen to a senior position at a major media company, a rapid ascent that many attribute to his “second-generation official” status.
Another name dragged into the rumors is actor Cai Yijia (birth name Cai Zhengjun). Although initially believed to come from a civil servant family, gossip now suggests that he—not Xin Qi—might actually be Cai Qi’s illegitimate son. This speculation is used to explain why his career in the entertainment industry has been smooth, with abundant resources provided since his debut.
For now, all of these allegations remain unverified and speculative. Neither the authorities nor those named have issued any public response. Yu Menglong’s death remains shrouded in mystery, while strict censorship in China continues to make verified information hard to obtain.
