LayarHijau – The death of mainland Chinese actor Yu Menglong after falling from a building has shocked the entertainment industry. The cause of his death has sparked widespread speculation among the public.
This incident has reminded people of the tragic case of actress Ren Jiao in 2017, who was known by the nicknames “Little Liu Yan” and “Little Angelababy.” Ren Jiao was found dead, face down on a lawn near a hotel in Suzhou, in a naked state. Police eventually concluded that her death was an alcohol-related accident, and the case was closed. The male star involved, Yang Xuwen, was also affected by the rumors circulating at the time.
Ren Jiao, a graduate of the Beijing Film Academy, had starred in the film Zhong Kui: Snow Girl and the Dark Crystal and appeared on the variety show Keep Running. She was only 28 years old at the time of her death. The day before the incident, she was photographed entering the room of actor Yang Xuwen, which sparked much speculation on social media.
Later, rumors circulated online that Yang Xuwen was present at the scene when Yu Menglong fell from the building. Yang Xuwen’s team quickly hired a lawyer to issue an official statement responding to the rumors. Yu Menglong’s “dinner list” also went viral, and the male actor fired the first shot, criticizing his friends at the scene for being disloyal: “What are you afraid of?”
Yu Menglong’s family subsequently released an official statement confirming that all information circulating online was false. Because the whole incident was confusing, and the fact that Ren Jiao’s last boyfriend, actor Yang Xuwen, did not make a public statement at the time, the public suspected that his company deliberately suppressed the news, which led to a strong backlash from netizens.
Yang Xuwen is known for his role as Guo Jing in the 2017 version of The Legend of the Condor Heroes. Due to his involvement in this case, he chose to stay out of the public spotlight and reduce his activities in the entertainment industry for a period. In 2022, he regained attention for his role as Lu Lingfeng in the web drama Strange Stories of the Tang Dynasty. In recent years, he has continued filming the sequel and gradually resumed his acting career, including in Strange Stories of the Tang Dynasty: Journey to the West.
