LayarHijau – The death of Chinese actor Yu Menglong continues to raise many questions. Although police officially stated that the cause was an accidental fall from a building after drinking alcohol, the mystery behind the tragedy has fueled heated debate among netizens.

On the evening of September 23, social media platform Weibo released an official statement. It confirmed that police had issued a report on Yu Menglong’s death, describing it as an “accidental fall from a building after drinking.” Authorities also vowed to take strict legal action against those spreading false rumors about the incident.

However, according to Weibo, even after the police report was released, many users continued to exploit the tragedy to stir up online chaos. Some posted inappropriate comments, exploiting Yu Menglong’s death, attacking his family, and even targeting government accounts. Such behavior, Weibo stressed, not only disrespects the deceased and his family but also disrupts public order by inciting hostility and extreme emotions online.

In response, Weibo announced that it had removed over 100,000 pieces of illegal content deemed to incite negative emotions. More than 1,000 accounts were temporarily or permanently banned, while over 15,000 accounts repeatedly engaged in malicious hype had their comment functions restricted.

Weibo emphasized that it will continue to strengthen monitoring and enforcement, urging users to report any illegal content they encounter.

Yu Menglong, 37, died in the early hours of September 11 after falling in Beijing. While the official cause was determined to be accidental, speculation continues to swirl online. Rumors ranging from the “unspoken rules” of China’s entertainment industry to other unverified theories have spread widely. Many related posts have already been deleted, and comment functions have been disabled in an attempt to curb further speculation.
