Li Qin Shows Off Her Labubu Collection, But Netizens Focus on Her Changing Appearance

Spread the love

LayarHijau.com – Mainland Chinese actress Li Qin recently caught fans’ attention by posting a photo with her favorite Labubu doll on Xiaohongshu. The post revealed her newfound enthusiasm for the trendy character, but rather than celebrating her adorable hobby, many netizens chose to focus on her appearance.

Li Qin, 34, rose to fame through popular dramas like Joy of Life and My Dear Guardian. In recent years, she has embraced her fashionable side and joined the growing ranks of celebrities collecting Labubu figures—part of The Monsters series by How2work. Known for their mischievous expressions, large eyes, and toothy grins, these quirky dolls have charmed fans across Asia. Other stars such as Charmaine Sheh and BLACKPINK’s Lisa are also proud Labubu collectors.

According to a report by HK01, Labubu’s popularity has exploded not just in China, but also abroad. In South Korea, Pop Mart had to temporarily suspend offline Labubu sales due to overwhelming queues. Meanwhile, in China, the craze has reached new heights. At the world’s first-ever Labubu-themed auction held by Yongle International Auction in Beijing on June 10, 2025, a human-sized Labubu figure (131 cm) was sold for 1.08 million yuan (around IDR 2.4 billion). In total, 48 Labubu items were sold, raising over 3.73 million yuan (roughly IDR 8.4 billion).

Despite the fun nature of her post, Li Qin’s appearance became the main topic of discussion. Some netizens commented that her face now looks more “gummy”—a term often used to describe a fuller, slightly swollen look possibly due to aging, makeup, or cosmetic enhancements. Others nostalgically referred to her former image as a “chicken-legged girl,” a Chinese slang term for someone with a slim upper body and small legs, which is often seen as the ideal or “cute” body type. One commenter added a biting remark: “Time is truly a butcher’s knife,” a popular saying in China that refers to the harsh and inevitable physical changes brought by aging.

Still, many loyal fans came to Li Qin’s defense, pointing out that it’s perfectly natural for people to change over time. Her joy in collecting Labubu shows a more relatable and lighthearted side of her—one that resonates beyond her on-screen persona.
