Yu Zheng Denies Targeting Chen Zheyuan, Blames the Actor’s Fans Instead

LayarHijau – Controversial producer Yu Zheng has once again stirred conversation after responding to fans in a comment thread on June 19, 2025. While he didn’t mention Chen Zheyuan by name, many interpreted his words as a continuation of the ongoing Royal Court Ballad controversy, especially since media outlets like Sohu explicitly referred to Chen in their headlines.

In his comment, Yu Zheng wrote, “First of all, I didn’t target the male lead. I just couldn’t stand the noise from his fans.” He added that the fate of the drama depends not on the actor who had already signed the contract, but on whether the production team is willing to sign a supplementary agreement.

“Whether we can move forward now depends on whether we’re willing to sign a new agreement—not the male lead who already signed. Also, the first role we signed has been adjusted for the overall situation. Can’t I tell the truth?” he continued.

Yu also pushed back against accusations that the drama was a low-quality project. “We never said this was a ‘three-no’ drama. We would never accept something like that,” he wrote, referring to a negative label for projects with no script, no funding, and no professional crew.

These remarks came just days after Yu’s June 16 livestream, where he claimed that the investor-backed male lead for Royal Court Ballad was unwilling to accept second billing under Wu Jinyan. While he didn’t name anyone, many netizens speculated that the actor in question was Chen Zheyuan.

As a result, Chen Zheyuan’s name has been dragged into the spotlight, with netizens split between defending and criticizing him. Some pointed out that Chen had recently taken second-lead roles and may simply be caught in the crossfire between investors and producers. Others, however, accused him of acting like a “Crown Prince” and disrespecting his co-star.

Now, instead of de-escalating the situation, Yu Zheng’s latest statement has shifted the spotlight to Chen Zheyuan’s fans, whom he blames for stirring up unnecessary drama. As of now, Chen Zheyuan has not released any official statement regarding the controversy.
