LayarHijau – On Saturday, November 8, Victor Ma shared a video on his Douyin account reacting to Zhao Lusi’s new single, Black Veil Bride, for the very first time. In the four-minute clip, Victor expressed his thoughts and admiration for the English-language track with genuine excitement.

Black Veil Bride is one of two songs released just a day apart as part of Zhao Lusi’s music comeback. The track was first released on October 31, 2025, with a global distribution to over 160 platforms—including Spotify, Apple Music, and QQ Music—on November 6. The second song, Don’t Wanna Know, was also released a day apart. Both tracks showcase Zhao Lusi’s new musical identity, blending dark fairytale-themed electronic pop with English lyrics, marking a fresh step in her international and Chinese music career.

Victor Ma brings a unique perspective to the reaction. Born in New York City on March 20, 1996, he spent part of his childhood in Shanghai before returning to Los Angeles to study at the University of Southern California. Victor is a singer, songwriter, rapper, and actor who has been active in the Chinese music industry since around 2017. He regularly performs songs in both English and Mandarin, giving him the expertise to assess Zhao Lusi’s vocal and musical performance.

When he first heard the opening lyrics of Black Veil Bride, Victor looked genuinely surprised. He commented on parts of the song and even sang along at times. After the song ended, he said, “I was surprised. I remember Ruth’s last song was more of a cover, sweeter in tone. But this is fully upgraded into something like a dark, wicked, and beautiful version of her.”

He added, “The lyrics are really, really well-written. The arrangement is top notch. What really impressed me is that I sing a lot of English songs myself, and her pronunciation exceeds expectations. If you played this on the street and I didn’t know it was sung by Zhao Lusi, I’d probably think it was a regular English pop song. This is really well-produced.”

Victor also joked, “Can little sister Ruth sing with me?” He expressed confidence that if Zhao Lusi can deliver Black Veil Bride so well, performing his own songs in both Mandarin and English would be even easier.

He even shared his vision for the music video. “There have to be black flowers. I really can’t wait for the video to come out. I have a concept in mind, and if it’s executed, it’s going to be amazing,” he said.

Beyond their professional collaboration, Victor Ma and Zhao Lusi share a warm friendship. They previously played siblings in the drama Hidden Love and often appear together in reality shows and social media posts in relaxed, friendly settings. Their positive working relationship adds weight to Victor’s praise and makes his reaction all the more meaningful to fans.
