Chris Hemsworth is set to reprise his role as Tyler Rake, the elite black-ops mercenary at the center of the franchise. Idris Elba and Golshifteh Farahani are also returning for the third movie.
The addition of Ma Dong Seok and Joe Taslim is particularly exciting for action fans, as both actors have built strong reputations in the genre and have appeared in major international productions.
Details about their respective roles have yet to be revealed. Ma Dong Seok’s casting, however, comes with an interesting connection to another Netflix project set in the same universe as Extraction.
The actor previously starred in Tygo, an upcoming Netflix film that shares the Extraction universe. Because of that connection, Ma Dong Seok is expected to reprise the same character in Extraction 3. Netflix and the filmmakers have yet to officially confirm the details of his role.
Extraction 3 is once again directed by Sam Hargrave, who also helmed the first two films, released in 2020 and 2023. David Weil is writing the screenplay, while Joe and Anthony Russo are involved in developing the story.
Production is currently underway in Australia. Netflix has not yet announced an official release date for the film.
Meanwhile, Tygo, starring Ma Dong Seok, is currently in post-production and is also set to be released on Netflix. Its connection to the Extraction universe makes Ma Dong Seok’s involvement in the third installment even more intriguing.
With Hemsworth returning as Tyler Rake and Ma Dong Seok and Joe Taslim joining the cast, Extraction 3 is shaping up to be another major action title for Netflix.
