Publication Process and Translation Challenges
In an exclusive interview in October 2025 with LayarHijau, Puput, the Editor of Hidden Love at Shira Media, explained the rationale behind the novel’s publication.
“Indonesian readers have been waiting a long time for this book, and through this translation, Shira Media bridges the gap so they can comfortably enjoy the story in Indonesian,” said Puput to Layar Hijau on Thursday, October 23, 2025.
Regarding the translation process of the two Mandarin-language novels, Puput noted that the translator did not encounter significant difficulties in capturing the cultural nuances or idioms.
“Both novels are set in modern times and relate to daily life, so there were no significant challenges during the translation,” she explained. She added that the process included numerous footnotes to explain specific terms in the novels to make them easier for Indonesian readers to understand. Puput also confirmed that the translation process did not involve direct supervision from the original authors or international editors.
