LayarHijau – The new drama Love on the Turquoise Land (梟起青壤) premiered on November 22 and immediately captured public attention. Starring Dilraba and Oliver Chen, the series goes head-to-head with Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty III: To Changan and Love & Crown, two other highly anticipated releases. Despite the competitive lineup, viewer enthusiasm for Love on the Turquoise Land remains remarkable—pre-release reservations exceeded 3.2 million, and the latest trailer has already surpassed 7 million views.
The drama is adapted from a novel by Tailfish (尾魚), a writer known for supernatural and fantasy stories. Several of Tailfish’s previous works, including Rattan and West Out of Yumen, have been adapted into dramas with varying results, largely due to the genre’s high demands for strong visual effects and storytelling. As a result, Love on the Turquoise Land has drawn considerable attention from fans of Chinese supernatural fiction.
In the story, Dilraba plays Nie Jiuluo, a member of the secretive organization “Nanshan Hunters,” a group dedicated to protecting society from a race of man-eating beings known as Dixiao. Nie Jiuluo is infamous for her title Mad Blade, a fighter known for her fierce, fast, and deadly combat style. Oliver Chen portrays Yantuo, a determined and upright young man who has endured years of hardship while holding firmly to his sense of justice. Their fateful encounter marks the beginning of a dangerous partnership that gradually blossoms into trust and emotional connection.

The newly released trailer opens with an emotionally gripping scene: Nie Jiuluo lies on the ground, covered in blood, while Yantuo stares at her with visible anguish. The footage then rewinds to their first meeting, with Yantuo questioning Nie Jiuluo’s identity and the nature of the Dixiao. The tension rises when a Dixiao with sharp fangs lunges toward the camera, revealing the terrifying appearance of the man-eating race that drives the core conflict.
Another key figure appears: Lin Xirou (portrayed by Zhang Li), the leader of the Dixiao. She insists that her people only wish to find a safe place under the sunlight, yet are always treated as unforgivable monsters. This highlights the central conflict—two species incapable of coexistence.
The trailer also introduces Nie Jiuluo’s teammates within the Nanshan Hunters: Ghost Whip and Mad Dog, each possessing their own specialized abilities. Despite being an ordinary human, Yantuo bravely takes up arms to join the mission of infiltrating the Dixiao stronghold. A series of fast-paced action shots—Nie Jiuluo leaping, slashing, dodging, and sliding across blood-soaked floors—showcases Dilraba’s rare, fierce persona. Her final move, severing a Dixiao’s hand before gliding forward with her face splattered in blood, has become one of the most widely discussed scenes online.
To help viewers unfamiliar with the original novel, the production team released an introductory world-setting video. It explains that the Dixiao emerged after a meteorite fell on Nanshan, producing a substance called “Qingrang.” This substance gave birth to the Dixiao, beings that survive by consuming human flesh and seek immortality. The origins of the Nanshan Hunters date back a thousand years, when their ancestors fought the Dixiao and forced them underground. The surviving guardians passed down their duty through generations, forming three lineages—blade, whip, and dog—who gather every four years to patrol the mountains.
One of the world’s key rules adds further tension: anyone bitten by a Dixiao must be exposed to the first rays of sunlight within 24 hours, or risk turning into a mindless white-haired creature called “Diba.” This raises the stakes of every battle, turning each fight into a race against time.
With its intense visuals, well-crafted world-building, and strong chemistry between Dilraba and Oliver Chen, Love on the Turquoise Land is shaping up to be one of the standout fantasy action dramas of the year. The growing wave of viewer enthusiasm signals the potential for this series to become a major hit of the season.
