LayarHijau – The death of actor Yu Menglong (于朦朧) last month continues to raise questions. Although the police quickly closed the case, stating no criminal involvement, the public remains suspicious that his death was not entirely ordinary, especially after rumors linking actress Song Yiren to the incident and highlighting her family background as a suspected grandchild of a high-ranking official.

According to reports, before his death, Yu was invited to a gathering attended by 17 people, including several public figures and individuals with political connections. Among them were directors Cai Qingsong (程青松) and Fang Li (方励), actor Gao Taiyu (高泰宇), and screenwriter Jiguang Guang (極光光), who is rumored to be the grandson of former Premier Li Peng. Also present were Xin Qi (辛奇), a distant relative of President Xi Jinping, and actress Song Yiren, who previously starred in the drama At Cafe 6 and is suspected to be the granddaughter of Song Ao, former Deputy Head of Logistics of the Beijing Military Region, making her part of what is known as the “Red Third Generation” (红三代). Song Yiren was reportedly the one who invited Yu to the gathering.

Responding to the rumors, Song Yiren, through her lawyer, emphasized that allegations such as “forcing someone to drink”, “fleeing abroad”, and “murder” are completely false, and clarified that she was not present at the scene, SETN.com wrote.

Additionally, other rumors suggest that some of the gathering participants have family or political ties to China’s top officials, fueling conspiracy theories among netizens that Yu Menglong’s death may be connected to China’s political elite, even though no official evidence confirms the involvement of these individuals.

Context of the “Red Third Generation”:

  • Red Second Generation (红二代): Children of senior officials in the Chinese Communist Party.
  • Red Third Generation (红三代): Grandchildren of senior officials, including Song Yiren according to rumors.
  • This status grants access to political networks, economic opportunities, and social positions, making public figures from such backgrounds frequent subjects of scrutiny in controversial incidents.
