LayarHijau – The sudden death of Chinese actor Yu Menglong continues to attract global attention. Although Chinese police quickly ruled out criminal suspicion and declared the death an accident, many questions remain unanswered. Since September 20, overseas netizens have launched a global petition demanding justice for Yu Menglong, calling for an independent and transparent investigation. As of today, October 2, 2025, the petition has gathered over 150,000 signatures, increasing international pressure.

The petition, titled “Seeking Justice for Yu Menglong,” was initiated by netizens through the non-governmental organization AVAAZ. Written in both Chinese and English, the petition emphasizes that the incident was not a simple accident. The initiators point out that with the leak of several suspected related videos online, including recordings of Yu Menglong’s cries during alleged torture, all signs suggest there may be more behind the actor’s death.

The petitioners also urge that the lives and personal freedom of artists should no longer be threatened. One piece of evidence shared includes a screenshot of an audio file suspected to capture the torture of Yu Menglong before his death.

The petition explicitly states that Yu Menglong’s death in September 2025 was suspected to involve “restriction of freedom, violent beatings, and forced drinking and drug administration,” ultimately leading to his tragic passing. If these allegations are true, this event is not only an issue within the entertainment industry but also a serious challenge to basic human rights and public safety.

The initiators stressed, “Justice will not come automatically; it requires our joint effort. We cannot allow the truth of this incident to be covered up or ignored.” They also called on international human rights organizations, including Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International, to intervene and pressure relevant authorities to ensure that the lives and personal freedom of artists are protected.

The petition outlines three main demands:

  • A formal case should be filed, and a comprehensive, independent, and transparent investigation conducted to reveal the truth and restore justice.
  • If the investigation confirms criminal acts, legal proceedings must be carried out according to law to hold those involved accountable and ensure fair trials and sanctions.
  • Relevant authorities must issue a public apology and provide the deceased’s family with full legal assistance and psychological support to protect victims’ rights and uphold social justice.

As of today, October 2, 2025, the petition has quickly amassed over 150,000 signatures. The initiators emphasize that the signatories represent society’s demand for fairness and justice, urging the world to pay attention to artists’ working conditions and human rights protection, while demanding the truth behind Yu Menglong’s death be publicly revealed.
